Two Bills Drive

‘Quarterback Jay Fiedler sounded shocked at the way the Bills decided to defend Miami in the fourth quarter with a 21-10 lead. “They were giving us chances, playing a lot of man-to-man defenses, they were playing hard inside on Chris (Chambers) and our wideouts and giving us the deep throws for (the Miami receivers) to go up and make some plays,” Fiedler said. “They tried blitzing a couple times, and we were able to catch them in one or two blitzes and made some big plays.”‘

‘Buffalo has now lost a team-record eight straight home games.’

‘There was absolutely no way, by any objective measure, that the Buffalo Bills should have, could have, lost to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. And yet they did.’

‘"I’ve seen a lot in 11 years, and this is a new low."’

‘"Despite all the other things that went against us, I had two plays to make a difference and I didn’t make a difference…".

‘If the Bills didn’t already know about Chambers’ playmaking ability, they know now.’

‘And you thought it couldn’t get any worse.’

‘And with every passing week we’re left to wonder. Bottom line? Or end of the line?’

‘The Bills appear so concerned about injured quarterback Rob Johnson, they apparently didn’t want him on the sideline for fear he might suffer a freak injury. Johnson spent the game in the coaches’ box.’

Hansen has always been a guy with perspective, someone who could play through any situation and explain it, too. With his Buffalo Bills struggling this season, Hansen has been able to articulate the problems clearly and honestly: It’s a young team. We make mistakes. We need to learn to win. But this time, after a 34-27 loss to the Miami Dolphins, Hansen had no explanation. "I try to come up with a reason or excuse every week," he said, "but this one hurts worse than any."

‘The 75th meeting of the Bills and Dolphins proved to be a very memorable game, but unfortunately for Buffalo, a strong upset bid by the Bills was dashed with a 24-point fourth quarter by Miami as the Dolphins took a 34-27 win out of Buffalo.’

"It is frustrating to play hard and well and not come up with a win. They made some big plays at the end and we didn’t make the plays to counter that."

‘"I don’t know how much lower we can get," defensive end Phil Hansen added.’
