Drew Bledsoe is a bona fide star, Alex Van Pelt is a capable backup who has started 11 NFL games, and then there’s Brown, whom Gilbride and coach Gregg Williams think has a bright future despite his third-string status.’

‘This year, quarterback Drew Bledsoe has the green light to change any play that Kevin Gilbride sends into the game. "Kevin really allows us a lot of flexibility. If we see something we want to attack and we’re in a poor play and there’s something better, we can get to it," Bledsoe said after practice on Tuesday.’

‘"Doug Flutie was my favorite. To me, he really got the shaft. They seemed to win every game he filled in."’

‘”I do feel more comfortable here in this camp than I did last year at this time in the Niners camp,” Prioleau said. “I still have a lot of improving to do, but hopefully, I can be a part of this defense this year.”‘
