Two Bills Drive

‘He didn’t want them to know that his father had deserted him when he was an infant or that his mother cared more about getting her next cocaine fix than being a mom. He didn’t want the world to know that he and his little sister, Christine, were nomads, bouncing from this home to that, occasionally sleeping on the streets of San Bernardino, Calif., and begging for food.’

‘The Bills have the cap room (particularly if they let Price go) to pursue one or two big-play defenders, preferably a pass-rushing end and a linebacker. Forcing more turnovers (the Bills are last in the NFL with 14 takeaways) would make the offense even more dangerous with better field position.’

‘The Packers are third behind Philadelphia (12-3) and Tampa Bay (11-3) in the race for the best record in the NFC and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Philadelphia and Tampa Bay hold tiebreakers over Green Bay.’

‘The 7-7 Bills are mathematically in the AFC playoff race and need to win their last two games to have any chance of qualifying, but will need help. Suffice it to say the Bills are relative long shots. The Packers should have more urgency because they’re still in the thick of the race with Philadelphia and Tampa Bay for the top seed in the NFC.’

‘The Bills have a slim chance for a playoff berth, which makes them dangerous. Quarterbacks Drew Bledsoe and Brett Favre could get into a shootout. Take the Packers because they’re at home and still battling for overall home-field advantage.’

‘With nothing to show for the selection of Flowers, the Bills struggle rushing the passer. "They don’t have a guy who can legitimately put his hand on the ground and get consistent pressure off the edge," one scout said.’

‘The Bills will be motivated and undaunted by the weather. However, they’re overmatched by just too wide of a margin along both lines to suspect that their dangerous but immobile quarterback, his stable of excellent wide receivers and underrated Travis Henry could be enough to spring an upset.’

Weekly Column by Chris Serico… The group selected the Bills for excellence in fan treatment, after it became obvious the Florida-based association couldn't pick their hometown Dolphins. Because, honestly, when the Bills twice fried the Fish during the regular season, Miami fans could not have been too happy with their team.

Any team looking to beat the Green Bay Packers needs to get through Brett Favre first. And that's no easy challenge.

The 33 year-old quarterback is a sure-shot Hall of Famer. He's an especially dangerous foe for a struggling defense, which gives the Bills both a threat and an opportunity: If Buffalo's defenders can shut down Favre, that's a huge boost heading into New Year-playoffs or not.

As for the history and mystic factor of Lambeau Field it becomes the perfect setting for a match-up of this caliber. This game is more than a battle for post-season position. It has all the makings of a showdown between two of the NFL's elite quarterbacks- Drew Bledsoe and Brett Favre.

I don’t fault the call (2 point VIking play) at all, even if it didn’t work. We played that great comeback game against Houston, and we were still down by 17 points or so in the third quarter and we had a fourth-and-8. I decided to go for it because I felt we needed to score, and we hit a touchdown on it. Many of my assistant coaches were screaming at me for it, but I decided to go for it. Not the same exact thing, but it’s all relative to a coach’s intuition.

‘Obviously, no player is in position to publicly criticize the head coach. But on and off the record, many genuinely seem to like and respect Williams.’
