Buffalo Bills make four roster moves on Nov. 5 ahead of Week 10

‘With DE Michael Hoecht going on IR (Achilles) earlier this week, the Bills had an open spot and are signing DT Phidarian Mathis from the practice squad to the active roster.’

'That's how we play here in Buffalo' | The Bills prepare for second regular season matchup against Miami

‘”We’re moving in the right direction. We are, and I applaud the staff and the coaches for it, they’ve done a really good job. Players have recalibrated a little bit and done everything that we’ve asked them to do,” McDermott said. “Now we’ve got to continue to go because we’re not where we need to be. This is a big divisional game down there away, and so we’ve got to put a good week of preparation in.”‘

Buffalo Bills stay put as trade deadline passes: What does it mean?

‘The move – or lack thereof – is notable for a few reasons. The Bills have become thin at defensive line, with injuries piling up. Their receiving corps has been under scrutiny this season. And on top of that, Beane and the Bills restructured nickel cornerback Taron Johnson’s contract on Monday, per ESPN’s Field Yates, to create an extra $1.75 million in salary cap space, signaling that a move could be on the horizon.’

7 Bills trends: Greg Rousseau's recent play bodes well for pass rush's potential

‘The bye week must have been the reset Rousseau needed because the 25-year-old edge rusher was in top form during the Bills’ wins over the Carolina Panthers and Kansas City Chiefs.’

Bills notebook: Brady with high praise for tight ends; Babich on cornerback rotation

‘“I thought the tight ends, just in general (on Sunday), were outstanding,” Brady said Monday. “I thought all of them, I thought they were the players of the game.”‘

Bills Mailbag: Defensive game plan against the Chiefs deserves to be celebrated

‘Dating back to the second half against Atlanta, the Buffalo defense has given up 33 points in the last 10 quarters. That’s impressive. It’s going to be tough without Ed Oliver and Michael Hoecht along the defensive line, but we have to give the defense credit for what it’s done recently.’

Buffalo News | Nov 5, 2025

Bills make no trades despite defensive line injuries, wide receiver needs

‘With Ed Oliver, TJ Sanders and DeWayne Carter all on injured reserve, DaQuan Jones missing the last three games with a return still unknown, and hybrid linemen Michael Hoecht – who got some inside snaps in the two games he played before blowing out his Achilles – landing on IR, the Bills have a severe deficiency.’

Rochester Democrat and Chronicle | Nov 5, 2025

Buffalo Bills defense evolves with matchup-driven changes

‘They have been much more diverse in their defensive deployments, matching up to what formations they’re getting from the opposing offense. When teams have run game personnel on the field, the Bills have often gone to a 4-3, taking nickel back Taron Johnson off the field and replacing him with a linebacker. And when it looks like a pass is coming, they either stick to their nickel or even go to a dime package (six defensive backs).’

Meet Miss Cindy, the Bills fan who makes a Highmark Stadium elevator a happy place

‘Chachulski operates the elevator that carries fans and players’ family members alike to and from the Bud Light Club and Caesars Sportsbook Lounge on game days, greeting every person like they’re a friend.’

Rochester Democrat and Chronicle | Nov 5, 2025

Bills come up empty at NFL's trade deadline

‘You could say there weren’t moves out there for Bills general manager Brandon Beane, or that some of the biggest sellers came from within the AFC East and wouldn’t deal with Buffalo. But rumored targets like WRs Jakobi Meyers and Rasheed Shaheed were moved at prices that could not be called premium. Even a small addition upfront was clearly attainable based on moves made around the league.’

Batavia Daily News | Nov 5, 2025

The trade deadline passes without the Bills making a move

‘Josh Allen won’t have a new receiver nor are the Buffalo Bills bringing in relief for their depleted defensive tackle depth chart.’

Niagara Gazette | Nov 5, 2025

Battered Bills defense harassed Mahomes in signature win, but can it hold up?

‘The Bills defense may have found a nastier attitude along the way, but the defining identity of this unit has a lot to do with its ability to handle one dose of adversity after another that can largely trace to injuries. To say you don’t know what you’ll get from week to week is not a knock. It’s fact. Buffalo (6-3) has fielded at least seven different starting lineup combinations on its defense this season, leaving McDermott and coordinator Bobby Babich to churn for answers.’

Bills cut ties with Hard Knocks fan favorite

‘The bottom of practice squads often features movement like this, but it’s still a bummer for Ciarlo.’

Bills' Joe Brady reacts to 'outstanding' Josh Allen in Chiefs win

‘“Sometimes you can see in pregame, sometimes you can see just early in the game by the ball placement or he’s seeing how he’s feeling,” Brady said. “Sometimes it’s after a hit, you might need to get him hit a little bit. Hopefully it’s not a sack and it’s a run. But I felt in the box, I think you can tell a little early where he was and had a good feel and pulse of how the game was being played and how they were going to play him. I thought he was outstanding.”’

Today in Bills stadium history: Nov. 5

‘1978 — Patriots 14, Bills 10 — Tom Dempsey kicked a short field goal on Buffalo’s opening drive after Randy McClanahan recovered a muffed punt in the red zone, and Joe Ferguson threw a touchdown pass to Bob Chandler late in the fourth quarter after Tom Graham strip sacked Steve Grogan in New England territory, but in between the Patriots rushed for 279 yards and two Horace Ivory touchdowns, while the Bills offense barely advanced across midfield. The AFC East division champion Patriots (8-2 after this win) set an NFL record rushing for 3,165 yards in ’78, while the Bills gave up a record 3,228 yards. Attendance at Rich Stadium for this one was 44,897.’
