Two Bills Drive

‘Buffalo didn’t wait for the run on defensive linemen to start on Day 2 of the NFL draft. Sanders was the first defensive tackle off the board in the second round. The San Francisco 49ers took Texas defensive tackle Alfred Collins two picks later.’

‘Sanders is listed at 297 pounds, but he has bulked up this offseason. He says he is currently between 305-310 pounds and still feels as explosive as did at 297 pounds. The new Bills defensive tackle added that he feels he can play at 315 pounds. That is right around DaQuan Jones’ weight so there is no doubt that Sanders can fill the 1-tech role in Buffalo’s defense.’

‘Jackson said that he met with the Bills multiple times during the draft process and now joins a Buffalo defensive line that has undergone a complete overhaul this offseason. Jackson is one of two new defensive linemen added on Friday after the Bills selected defensive tackle T.J. Sanders in the second round. The Bills signed veteran edge rusher Joey Bosa, versatile lineman Michael Hoecht, and veteran tackle Larry Ogunjobi during free agency.’

‘“This was someone who just elevated through the entire process,” Jeremiah said. “I thought he was a top-50 player in this class. Ziggy Ansah, if you go back to Detroit (and) remember when he came into the league, that’s who he reminded me of. Very disruptive. He has a lot of wins against some of the better tackles in this draft class. I got a call from somebody after they watched him. They said, ‘If Will Campbell is going top-five, what’s wrong with this Landon Jackson?’ Because he got the best of him (Campbell). The Senior Bowl game, he was dominant. Then he goes to the combine and had an outstanding showing there… Once the season ended, this dude aced the process.”’

‘“Man, honestly, I didn’t think it was real,” Jackson told the media. “I knew the Bills were big on me throughout this whole process, but I didn’t think it was real. My phone said potential spam risk when they called. I thought I was getting pranked to be honest with you. Then my wife said, ‘Go ahead and pick it up. I think it is somebody.’ Then I picked it up and they said, ‘This is the Buffalo Bills.’ I said this is Landon Jackson, thank you for calling. At that point, I just shut down and started bawling.”’

‘Kentucky’s Maxwell Hairston might be one of my favorite players in the entire draft. I love the Buffalo Bills taking him in the first round. They have a major need at corner. Hairston will step in right away and start. He’s an aggressive corner. He can play man. I know the Bills don’t play a ton of man, but he can do it. I love this pick. It’s one of my favorites in the entire draft. I give it an A.”‘
