‘Perhaps it’s recency bias because I just wrote about him, but I’ll pick wide receiver Chase Claypool. He had all the right things to say after practice Tuesday about understanding that this might be his last NFL chance. The wide receiver depth chart is fairly wide open. Shakir, Keon Coleman and Curtis Samuel are the only “locks” to me, although Marquez Valdes-Scantling is close to that status. Claypool will have an opportunity in training camp to earn playing time on offense. He has also embraced the idea that special teams could be his path to a roster spot, which shows a good level of maturity. Defensively, I’ll go with Dorian Williams. He’s got all the athleticism you need for an NFL linebacker, but it seemed, at times, as though he was still learning the defense as a rookie. If he locks that part down, I could see him making an impact, either when the Bills go to three-linebacker sets or in the event either Matt Milano or Terrel Bernard miss any time.’

Community mindset leads Bills Hall of Famer into commissioner role

Buffalo Bills' defensive picture remains murky
‘The lingering questions, however, remain on the field, most notably for the defense, a unit that saw depth added across the board in the draft. At the top level, McDermott still has not determined who will be calling the plays for the defense this year, whether it’s him, as it was last year, or first-time defensive coordinator Bobby Babich. McDermott said answers will come during camp, giving Babich the opportunity to practice calling plays with sessions early on that are largely scripted.’

Ryan O'Halloran: Bills' work on 2025 NFL draft started this week

Do PSLs hold their value? A lot depends on winning – and timing
‘It also depends on the market and how many potential buyers are out there. There’s an unanswered question in Buffalo, because PSLs are new to this market. As the second-smallest market in the NFL ahead of only Green Bay, is Buffalo big enough to drive interest in the resale market, once all the hoopla of moving into a new stadium dries up?’

'He's going to change the trajectory of foster care': Buffalo Bills' Ray Davis finding his purpose

Bills rookie Ray Davis using his own journey in foster care to inspire, advocate for others
‘“For almost 22 years, I was quiet about my story,” Davis said. “My story came out in the middle of a game. An announcer had said it. I remember sitting there and everyone sending it to me. Everyone asking me am I upset, am I mad. I remember just talking with my dad and sister and being like, nah. I finally know my purpose in life.”’
Buffalo Bills: Josh Allen learning to play with new center Connor McGovern
‘On the field, Allen and McGovern will have to learn each others’ signals and cues, which can mean even the smallest things within the snap of a football. Getting to that point requires a lot of attention to detail behind the scenes.’

New Bills WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling hitches his wagon to superstar QBs
‘“Yeah, man, I guess they follow me around or something,” Valdes-Scantling said with a laugh after a spring practice this week. “I’m blessed, man. I didn’t get to pick the team that I got drafted to. It’s crazy because when I was coming out of college, I didn’t want to be anywhere cold. But all the last places I’ve been have been cold. It’s been a blessing. I’ve just had great opportunities. Winning two Super Bowls and being part of those teams in Green Bay, watching Aaron win MVPs and be a part of that. So hopefully I can keep bringing over good stuff. Hopefully we can get Josh an MVP and a Super Bowl this year.”’
'Show them I’m deserving of this': Buffalo Bills DE A.J. Epenesa has big goals after signing new contract
‘”It kind of feeds into that fire to push you to want to do better to prove to everyone that you can keep playing,” said Epenesa. “You’re worth the contract; you’re worth another shot.”‘
Bills rookie Travis Clayton embracing opportunity with transition from rugby to football
‘“I think the most challenging thing for me is the playbook,” Clayton said. “I think I’m just learning everything, learning different movements. Different hand movements as well because that plays a big part in playing an offensive lineman….Definitely the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life, but it’s the NFL. It’s not going to be a walk in the park.”’
