keepthefaith Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Further atrocities that were going on in the Bush era...? Here is a clue for you....The country was in horrible shape when Obama took over!! Was it not??? Am I missing something here? The first bailout package for the banks was on our former presidents watch! Banks were going out of business, and so was the auto industry all on Bush's watch... When he took office the country had a surplus!! 8 years later we are Billions and trillions in debt. .IS THAT ALL FORGOTTEN??!! I am sorry I have to go and cool off.... Have a great day. You have no argument here. Even most Republicans were unhappy with Bush. Both sides agree on that. The problem now is what is being done to address what Obama and this congress feel are the big issues. They're simply piling on the problem at a tremendous cost and pushing an agenda of social and economic justice which benefits some at the expense of others. This is like defending Marv Levy saying that he inherited a mess from Donohoe. He did, we know that. He didn't make things better and that's not Donahoe's fault. Now Brandon and Ralph are trying to clean up that mess which would be akin to electing another crappy president after this one.
GG Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 (edited) Pretty sure your history of Paul Allen is way off, as he and Gates were both students at the same high school. In fact, Allen brought Gates out to New Mexico where they ended up forming Microsoft. TOGETHER. But this is the Internet afterall, where people can say silly things without regard for what actually happened... .. yes it is the Internet, so let's take a look at what actually happened in real history and the relative contribution of Paul Allen to Bill Gates vs the other way around. Gates & Allen found Miscrosoft 1975 Microsoft signs deal to be exclusive OS supplier to IMB's PCs - 1981 Paul Allen leaves the company in 1983 - retains his equity stake Microsoft IPOs 1986 - Total market cap $500 million. Allen's share $125-$140 million. (you can use the Internets to fill in the rest of Microsoft's timeline and see who was instrumental in the company's rise, primarily its dominance of OS and business applications. Hint, it wasn't Paul Allen) Allen's business ventures since leaving Microsoft - abysmal failures. Allen remains a billionnaire only due to his holdings of MSFT, which increased about 400x since the IPO. (corrected the stock rise) So, tell me who should Paul Allen be thanking that people consider him to be a successful businessman? Edited October 29, 2009 by GG

What if his economic plan works? Aside from spending too much, what gripe could you possibly have with the man? That's like saying, well Mark Sanchez obviously sucks, the Jets should draft another QB in the first round next year cause this obviously isn't working. The guy is a rookie!!! Give him a full year before you declare him a "crappy president."

I don't know if you've noticed, but your Sanchez example is precisely the kind of logic prevalent on this board in both football and politics.
reddogblitz Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 To those criticizing Obama: How dare you criticize our president in a time of war !! You must hate America.

You must hate America the Bills. Football board. Politics is somewhere else - specifically, OTW. (PPP being the verbal abuse board.)
