GG Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Really, you shouldn't look at Hardy vs Jackson. You should compare Jackson to Parrish - because they are in effect the same kind of receiver. However Roscoe has never aspired via precise routes, run blocking, etc. to be as good as Jackson is in his second year. Exactly. With Evans, Parrish & Reed on the roster it would have been insane for Bills to draft another receiver who is a mirror image of the ones already on the roster. The drafting of Hardy was to take an unpolished receiver that was supposed to diversify the Bills' WR corps. If Bills can't get solid production out of Evans & Parrish, there's no way in hell they get that production out of Jackson.
Sisyphean Bills Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 and everyone would have flamed on here for the choice. Also, Desean had alot of character questions which is why so many other teams passed as well. Crayonz?
Beerball Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Completely different circumstances and can't really be compared. And for the record, Hardy did have more tds as a rookie than Desean did. Jackson had 6 TDs last year. Hardy had 2. But, you do get points for research.
Beerball Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Crayonz? He's right. Think about last year's draft. If the Bills had taken Jackson in the 2nd round there would have been wailing and gnashing of teeth to match or surpass any other draft pick. Afterall, we already had Jackson on the roster. Trouble is his name is Parrish.
bigc14120 Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Exactly. If Bills can't get solid production out of Evans & Parrish, there's no way in hell they get that production out of Jackson. Despite the limited production in his first year, Hardy will never make it BIG as a pro. I was disappointed in him...as he has SLOW feet, and will never be a big receiver factor like Keyshawn Johnson was...KJ was a giraffe per Parcells...Hardy cannot get out of his own way in even a minimal sort of way. So, for this debate.....the quick receiver has my vote...not even a close call.
Endless Ike Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Exactly, can't be compared. You just proved why they can't be compared, learn to read. (and for the record, he literally dropped a TD his rookie year at the 1 yd line, so for all intensive purposes, he had 3 recieving) first of all, its "intents and purposes" second, the stats are the stats, no shouldas allowed
RayFinkle Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Had the Bills drafted DeSean, 95% of the posters here would have had an aneurysm because the Bills drafted another 5'9" WR.
BillsFan74 Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Another great job by Modrak and company.... If we would have taken Jackson everybody would have been upset we took another small WR, plus at the time we thought Roscoe could fill that role.
commish95 Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 UMMMM lets see.......Hardy had a poor year as a Rookie.(some say) TO comes in and so far has failed. Reed has failed as the #2 for years prior to Hardy coming in.........You begin to wonder if it is the WR in place or the QB or better yet the offenseive coaching scheme. Im sorry but you can put Fitzgerald, Wayne, Colsten, Johnson in a Bills uniform, and this offense would still fail. Buffalo is borring. The team is borring. The coaching staff is boring. Indy, Philly, New orleans, New england, Denver, GB, Ariz are exciting teams and will be for years to come.........5 years from now Bills will still be boring.
atlbillsfan1975 Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Way to early to tell anything yet Hardy got hurt, i am sure at some point in his career jackson will too. But i will say this, Jackson is benefitting from haveing Andy Reed calling plays. If you watched last night both long runs were a way to utilize Jacksons speed. Have the right personel running the right plays. The Bills have Lee Evans running crossing patterns and Owens running flies. Just the opposite to what the two do best.

If the Bills had taken Jackson in the 2nd round there would have been wailing and gnashing of teeth to match or surpass any other draft pick. Afterall, we already had Jackson on the roster. Sisyphean Bills Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 If we would have taken Jackson everybody would have been upset we took another small WR, plus at the time we thought Roscoe could fill that role. Some people think Roscoe can still fill the role of being a Roscoe.
Red Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 All of you goofballs need to settle down. The Bills could have Jerry Rice, Andre Reed, AND Marvin Harrison at WR, but with Trentative at QB, and a shaky offensive line, NO ONE is getting a ball.
todd Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Only fools assess draft picks after one year of playing. Not only that, only fools ignore injuries and other valid circumstances. The general idea about rookies for non-morons is to wait a few years before calling someone a bust. Jackson seems to be a great player. Another great job by Modrak and company....
mannc Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Another great job by Modrak and company.... Not to mention Eddie Royal, taken by Denver a few picks after Hardy. On the other hand, at least we didn't do what the Redskins did in that draft--take three BUST receivers in the second round (two of whom were quite popular around these parts before the draft). They are suffering the consequences now.
Fewell733 Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 why do we keep bashing Hardy? At least wait till he's back on the field for a couple games

mannc Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Compare the guys throwing the ball to all the receivers mentioned already. It's a fair point. On the other hand, Hardy couldn't even crack the Bills' lineup and the other two have been putting up Pro Bowl numbers from Day One--and have been dynamic return men to boot, something we could definitely use right about now. You're not really saying that, given the chance to do it all over again, the Bills should still draft Hardy, are you?
commish95 Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Really its a Non Issue.....Hardy plays for the Boring Bills in the run run Check down offense and ROyal and Jackson plays for a more exciting Pass first offense. Royal Numbers have gone down this year as a result to a lesser QB play.
John from Riverside Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Isn't it a little early to make final comparisons.....I mean. SERIOUSLY
