He will be around for the foreseeable future (at least 3 years) and hopefully a decade beyond that. I'm going to nitpick again. His contract was already activated the second he was in the opening night roster. He was being paid the terms of his contract for each day he's been with the Sabres. If he had been stopped short of 10 games, his contract would've been extended one extra year at it's current terms.

Correct, when he plays on Friday it will officially count as the first year of his pro contract. He is still eligible to be returned to his junior team, but cannot be assigned to Portland.
