why did Pats deactivate Adalius Thomas?

Recommended Posts

i know he hasn't lived up to expectations since coming over from Ravens (neither has Scott for the Jets :bag: ), by why flat out deactivate him when they're so thin at LB they have to sign a relic like Seau?

is Bellicheck sending a message to unmotivated or under-achieving players?

Thomas played well in 2007 and Bart Scott has been pretty good for the Jets so far. But yeah Thomas has been very average since that 2007 year not living up to his contract at all.

Pats Belichick unhappy with LB Adalius Thomas?

Patriots coach Bill Belichick apparently is unhappy with Adalius Thomas' production, though his slow start could have been because he missed the final seven games of last season due to a broken arm. For much of this season, and with Jerod Mayo out for three games, he and Gary Guyton were the only two true linebackers on the field as New England played more of a 4-2-5 alignment; according to the defensive statistics tabulated by the Pats' coaches, he has 12 tackles, one sack, two quarterback hits and a pass defensed. -- Providence Journal

Ravens have been a good judge of who on defense is worth keeping, and who is benefitting from the attention given other guys like Lewis, Ngata and Reed. I wouldn't go near any of their defensive free agents with a ten foot pole.

The issue with Thomas is he was outspoken about his dissatisfaction with the trading of Seymour. Problem is Thomas isn't in position to be making such complaints. Especially not publicly as he did. So, he's being punished now by BB during a time in the schedule where its most convenient.

Yes, because making an example of him is a great way to get him to play better than he has the past 2 years.

Who said anything about making Thomas play better?

The example is meant for the other Pats players who might question the Pats way.

That makes more sense.

And I didn't realize that Thomas will have pocketed $24M at the end of this season from the Patriots.

He would be a heck of a lot better than anyone we have....
