Dude, he is not shielded from the ire of fans, he is bashed all day, everyday and everyone knows it. I just think this is a little excessive. I actually agree that although he might be the worst coach I've ever seen, I really don't see the point in firing him mid-season and replacing him with Fewell or April or someone like that (two guys that might get fired themselves this offseason when we clean house). Everyone knows he's gone after this season, everyone knows Ralph HAS to hire one of the big five coaches sitting out there to sell tickets next year, so let's just take the rest of the season for what its is, see if some of this young talent can develop, share some laughs with your friends, have a good tailgate, but hope for 1-15. But people need to relax a little.

You see, if we let up even for a minute, Ralph can sit on his hands and do nothing, allowing Jauron to continue as HC. By using all the pressure we can muster, change can be affected. That is why I think a billboard is by no means an outrageous step towards this goal. In fact, if we didn't take it to this next level, the national media wouldn't have much interest in the story. NOW, we get nationwide publicity. That in itself HAS to force Ralph to stand up and notice- it affects the credibility of his name and his family...!

Now the next question ... how many (if any) are going to camp out at the sign for the week?

Not me ... I have a life.

Agreed on the $5 point, I wasn't thinking about that and didn't realize that it cost so little. But if someone put up a "white power" billboard on the 190 and I said, "hey man, I'm not sure how that makes Buffalo look- it's kind of inappropriate," would you come right back and say, "hey man, that's freedom of speech, this is the US of A, brother." Notice I didn't question whether or not the sign was in fact constitutional, I questioned whether it was in good taste or not.

bro, u are so off base its not even funny.

A good metaphor would be someone who gets hosed by a business. They call them, send letters, complain but to no avail. Then as a last resort they report them to one of those Eyewitness News programs who then come knocking on the business door. Sure this is embarrassing but that is the point, you want the business (Ralph) to know that the customer wont put up with being jerked around.

As for the billboard, i think it is way more critical of Ralphs inaction than Dick Jauron. All it is saying, DJ and Co. tried and failed, now move on already.

Yes, because we were all so sure Jauron would be fired after last season's 7-9 collapse. No way things could stay they same after going 0-6 in your division and witnessing a total collapse of the team.

And, yeah, I have all the confidence in the world that Ralph is bringing in Cowher, Hlomgren, etc. Why wouldn't he? I mean it's so obvious.

Yes, hoping for a 1-15 season is so much fun. Nothing like a good beat down each Sunday to make me want to laugh and have good times... good times.

Really?

if the players hate it so much, and support Jauron, why dont one of them (or a collection) throw in to put this bulletin board out of business.

Or better yet, dont play like a bunch of pansies who have quit on their coaching staff.

This entire organization deserves to be publicly humiliated and embarrassed. After the craptastic product that has been put on the field for 10 years running now, the organization deserves all of this.

So Jauron might be humiliated by this? Maybe if he grew a sack and started winning some games, we'd have no need to humiliate him. Dick Jauron is one of the worst people of all time in his given profession. He doesn't like it? Tell him not to suck.

I can't stand Jauron as our coach, I think he's horrid on so many different levels, and I wanted him gone last year. Similarly, Guy and Modrak have also earned a ticket out the door.

All that said, my old hometown is better than this. This billboard is schlocky, childish, and pointless. If anything, it'll firm Ralph's resolve and rally more player support behind Jauron ... and it is an ugly way to draw attention to a "fan"tastic community, a place with some of the greatest fans in the league and the nicest people in the country.

Shame on the billboard owner(s) for accepting it. Shame on them for selling out a piece of our integrity for few thousand bucks and a few mocking chuckles from national media. It's embarrassing.

I have to disagree. It's not shameful to Bills fans, only to their owner. Bills fans have supported the Bills and stuck up for Ralph for 50 years. Now when the team is crashing and burning, Ralph decides he doesn't care enough to do anything about it? Nice attitude. The billboard is a heroic effort by fans who are responding to an owner who doesn't care about his team or the fans that support it.

And you know what? If it weren't for fan pressure, Matt Millen would still be stinking up the Lions, so don't act like fans don't make a difference.

Maybe ... but in addition to my own (personal) repulsion to this thing, I have a horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach that this is going to split an otherwise unified community of fans and ... possibly ... players. I can see plenty of people in the "clean house" brigade that will feel so offended by this that they'll even start <shudder> siding a little with Jauron, etc.

I am kinda riding on the same side as Dan here.....I want there to be absolutely NO CHANCE that this coaching staff comes back next year.....I am still shocked that they are there THIS YEAR

I am still shocked

One side says, "Shameful!" The other counters, "Heroic!"

:wallbash: to both. I'm not about to contribute, but as long as it's not obscene or hate speech, I also don't see anything wrong with letting someone else have their say either on a message board or a billboard.

What she said. But Im much more in the "heroic" camp.

My only fear is that this will be one of those lynchpins/examples that will be used as "proof" that the team needs to be moved.
