LGB
Edwards is probably only one or two more Pat LaFontaine hits away from concussion problems given the number of hits he has taken behind the least experienced NFL offensive line. That is, if he hasn’t already been having issues. Trent Edwards has been behind a sub-par line all through college and with the Bills. If you were QB of the Bills, would you want to have this collection of rookies and bench-sitters protecting you from 270 pound bull-rushing defensive ends and all-out blitzing safeties? Is it any wonder the guy is shell-shocked to the point where the first instinct is to bail-out? The OL is everything on offense and besides Edwards having issues, it will be tough to run the ball with a rookie OL. Would anyone be really surprised with a one-win season with the mess we have right now?

TheChimp
There are QBs in this league right NOW who have O-Lines just as bad as Trent's. But they don't turn into deer in headlights because of it. Much like his head coach. God, if only we'd know what old Footsteps woulda been like had he had a real man coaching him the last three seasons. I'm guessing the exact same scared little baby, but at least he'd be the backup to a smarter, ballsier veteran by now.

Thurman#1
Do you blame Edward being shell-shocked? Yeah, IMHO he gets his share of the blame. But you're right that there's no question that working behind this line is hurting him and would hurt anybody.

South Jersey Bills Fan
sitting on the bench a couple of years and watching brett farve didn't hurt OVER-RATED...Sitting behind Brett Favre may have helped him last year for a couple of games. Aaron Rogers IS a good quarterback...at best, the jury is still out on Edwards because, not only does he have a bad line, he has bad coaching. Sack rankings: #32 Packers. 20 sacks. #31 Bills. 16 sacks. #30 49ers. 13 sacks. 5-way tie for 25th at 10 sacks. Steelers, Chargers, Chiefs, Lions, Browns. No, there aren't QBs in this league right now who have o-lines as bad as Trent's. Rodgers is the only one who's close, and a lot of his are from holding the ball too long. The Bills o-line right now is an absolute shambles. And we haven't exactly faced defensive juggernauts this year, far from it. The defenses the Pack has faced were far tougher, yet even against easy defenses, our line can't keep them out. Yeah, Trent isn't holding up his end either, but the o-line is epically bad right now. EasternOHBillsFan
Yes. (Throw the freaking ball, Betty!!! ) Touche!!! He isn't even ATTEMPTING to move the ball down the field very much- that's the worst part.

Conch
Yes. (Throw the freaking ball, Betty!!! ) The lack of a downfield challenge opens the door for heavier rushes. A very good way to negate the rush is to start hitting intermediate routes. But that won't happen because he won't get rid of the ball.

I mean, why wouldn't pairing a marginal, inexperienced QB with a marginal, inexperienced line succeed? It is just plain mysterious I tell you. A very good way to negate the rush is to start hitting intermediate routes. But that won't happen because he won't get rid of the ball. If that is all he has to do, then we could have kept Kelly Holcomb. He was good at getting the ball out quick. Why not plug Fitzpatrick in there and see if he can do any better? Not sure if he can do too much worse....
Kal
David Carr version 2? I thought (still think) Edwards was a complete steal for the talent he has, but if his mentality has taken such a beating like the one Carr took in Texas or Bulger took in St Louis (he's not been the same player since his line broke down) then its a worry. Big year for Edwards, physical talent alone won't get the job done.

Most of that is his own fault for not being faster on quick throws, but it is not like AVP can't see what is going on.
