KOKBILLS Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 My darkhorse is John Fox...Looks like they want to run him out of town down here Carolina unless he can turn it around quick...Not saying he would be better or worse than the above mentioned...But he would likely be a little cheaper and more willing to come...
JAMIEBUF12 Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 the beauty of this is there are really good coaches available to the bills this time.even if they got the worst out of the bunch it would still be an upgrade over jauron....i mean if say washington gets cowher and dallas gets shanahan.,the bills would still be in line for mike holmgren, gruden and the coach i want marty schottenheimer.....
Max997 Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Cowher, Gruden, Dungy, Holgrem, Shanahan seriously, why do people continue to bring up the names of coaches that have zero chance of being hired by Ralph
davefan66 Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Another topic about these guys? RALPH WILL NOT SIGN ANY OF THEM! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and CONTROL! Actually, I sat back and thought about it. I want Holmgren. Best of the lot at developing QB's as no way they part with the HC and QB in the same year.
ColdBlueNorth Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 OK usually I would say Ralph would go with a no name B-list coordinator BUT the fans are really starting to hate what Ralph is doing with this team (They had to bring in TO just to survive another DJ season). Going into next season there won't be another TO like free agency grab available for the Bills and the draft can't generate that much interest if DJ or a no-name is the head coach. So in order to keep those season ticket renewals up Ralph might go after a guy like Gruden or Schotenheimer. Both guys have been proven to be able to resurrect franchises and are big names that would insure the fans remain interested in the team. Now I know Ralph doesn't want to spend big on a head coach but drastic times call for drastic measures and hiring a proven head coach could in the long run make him money. Russ is business savvy and knows how to market his teams and next season (Lets say we go 6-10 this year) a coach with a ring like Gruden could be the way he markets it. Gruden might cost a lot (4-5 million) but he would be cheaper than a Cower or Holmgren (6-8 million a year) and the season ticket renewals he would provide would more than compensate for his cost. So its a much better possibility now that Ralph hires a Grunden like coach than ever. I like Gruden as well and I think that he is a pretty good coach. That being said, I would prefer to have Schotenheimer simply because he has a better track record of getting an offense on track, developing QB's, getting a running game going, and using the TE's. Also, I think he has enough contacts in the business to assemble a good staff - the last good staff we had was Wade Phillips' (with the exception of his drinking buddy that he let run the Special Teams) they could at least put together a game plan and execute it. Marty has done a great job where ever he has been, but has been plagued by those first round playoff problems. I would love to experience the excitement of actually getting to the playoffs again so why not roll the dice and get rid of dead dick. It's Marty-ball time.

Marty Schottenheimer is a somewhat interesting name. Not sure if he is a great game-day coach. He was fired by the Chargers in 2007, after a 14–2 record and a disappointing second round loss after a first round bye in the playoffs. What Bill's fans wouldn't do right now for a 14–2 record?

That's what I am talking about! 14-2 and they give the guy a heave-ho out of town. What we wouldn't give to see a year like that again... it will be a long time before the Chargers see that kind of performance again too, although they do have a better front office courtesy of the great Buffalo defection.
