Mostly known for being a baseball announcer.

i mostly know him as they guy that got a shower from my man deion sanders after the braves won the national league pennant,

per wiki:

During the 1992 National League Championship Series, he criticized Deion Sanders for playing both football and baseball on the same day. For his criticism, Sanders dumped a bucket of water on McCarver three times while he was covering the National League pennant winning Atlanta Braves' clubhouse celebration for CBS. After receiving the water, McCarver shouted at Sanders, "You know, Deion, you're a real man."

although i do think he has a good voice for announcing, i cant stand the guys work.

Nah. The best was Pat Boone doing metal. Metallica, Priest, etc. Incredible.

Have you forgotten William Shatner singing such classics as "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" or "Hey Mr. Tambourine Man"?

That reminds me of this CD:

Paul Anka sings rock classics. My sister has this CD, it's actually not bad...kind of funny, really, when it takes you two minutes to recognize he's singing a Nirvana song.

He can do what he wants- he's rolling in the dough. Wrote the Lyrics to My Way- Sinatra's signature song and Johnny Carson's Tonight Show theme and many hits by him and others.

The problem is that Richard Cheese has already been doing it for years:

Check out his Big Band version of "Baby Got Back":
