The interesting part of the article (to me) was the following....

billionaire Stan Kroenke owns the remaining 40 percent.

An NFL rule allows ownership of NFL teams and teams in other sports, but only if they are in the same market. That would be a problem if Kroenke wanted to become majority owner of the Rams because he owns the NBA's Denver Nuggets and the NHL's Colorado Avalanche.

This means that a majority owner of a major pro sports team in another market can be a minority owner in an NFL team in a different market. I did not know that.

Paging Jeremy Jacobs, paging Jeremy Jacobs....

Limbaugh won't be anything more than a minority partner in the Rams. The guy has a lot of money but I doubt he has the kind of cash to buy more than a 10 percent stake in the team. For him its just going to be about bragging rights to all of his friends. As another poster pointed out I would rather have Ralph than Limbaugh any day.

Also think its funny how Limbaugh a believer in the free market is trying to buy a team in a league that follows socialistic values like revenue sharing, salary cap, and restricting player mobility (Franchise Tag) unless in the next CBA he is going to try and put in some sort of free market reforms.

I would love to see Limbaugh buy the Bills. The team couldn't get much worse than it is now, but I'd have the added benefit of watching some of the Bills vocal liberal fans start crapping purple Twinkies.

So our offense could be even more conservative???

Amen to that.

Limbaugh and Checkets...both very smart men (even if you dont like Limbaugh's politics) at the pinnacle in their chosen professions. I WISH such a tandem would look at the Bills.

Not to mention, if history has any value, then it'd be safe to say that the more other teams make fun of Limbaugh, the more season tickets the Bills would sell.

Limbaugh a minority owner? Sheesh, that must pain him because we all know he doesn't like minorities.

Unfortunately, like most critics, you have this all wrong. Limbaugh has explained his opinion on this and it goes something along these lines:

The Steelers don't compete against the Cowboys. They compete against the Penguins, bowling, and going to the movies. The goal of any NFL team is to provide entertainment through the pursuit of winning a championship. When the Jaguars go bankrupt - the other teams do not benefit. The NFL is a single entity vying for your entertainment dollar.

I hate to admit it but I'd rather have rw as the owner of the team I root for than limpbaugh. I guess things CAN always get worse.

Why? Rush has a clue and Ralph doesnt.

And I'd have the added benefit of watching conservatives form a circle around the owners box

I know why the NFL has a cap and revenue sharing but its still a system with socialistic concepts (Welfare in the form of revenue sharing and regulation of spending through a salary cap) which as we all know Mr.Limbaugh hates so much.

So in a vacuum the NFL is much like a European nation. But you made a good point you have to take the context that the game is in. Its competing with the MLB, NHL, NBA, Professional Wrestling and all other forms of entertainment. So the NFL does these things in order to be collectively stronger and put out a better overall product. I was just making a joke.

Football's real strength has come form not having as big a gap between the big market and small market owners in that Wellington Mara the owner of the NY Giants was very favorable to having revenue sharing and a cap even if it meant him loosing money in the short term and forking over a competitive advantage. Mara was willing to take the hit short term so that his league would be stronger and more viable and in result his teams value would go up.

I honestly think that without owners like Mara that brought the small market guys like Ralph and the big market guys like Jerry Jones (Yes I know he bought the Cowboys in 89 but I couldn't think of a big market guy from before then) the NFL wouldn't be what it is today. I also think the Giants Superbowl win was a result of some Karma from Mara (I think he passed a few years before that season) and a result of the Pats* being cheating D-Bags.
