The Senator Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 So after every loss this year, Jauron should be getting fired? Every week there is a post "If the Bills lose this week---fire Jauron!" If you were a salesman and your boss told you "If you don't get 7 sales today, you are fired!" would that be fair? Not really. You don't fire someone for losing one game. You fire them because over a period of time, they have shown an inability to get accomplished what needs to be accomplished. If you are supposed to get 7 sales per day and for the past 6 months, you have not met that quota once, or have met it very few times, then your firing is justified. Yes, Jauron has been less then adequate as a coach, but the argument for him to be fired is his body of work as a coach, not stating after every game, that if he loses he should be fired. fact is, fear of losing one's job is a great motivator - and jauron should have been fired long ago, anyway. at some point, you have to draw a line in the sand. i say today, if we lose our 8th consecutive divisional game - against Miami, that jauron has crossed that line.
CodeMonkey Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 The NFL is a business. And looking at this situation like a business you will see that there is no upside to firing DJ now. Massive amounts of season tickets for this season have been sold, and almost every home game is a sellout already. So what is the upside to firing Jauron now, paying off his contract, and maybe having to pay more to one of the existing assistants to take over the job? The answer, none. Most of you are looking at it from strictly a football point of view, which in my opinion is incorrect. IF DJ gets fired, it won't be until after the season (or at the very least at the tail end of this season). That way they can bring in someone who offers a ray of hope to the fans and gets them to buy the season tickets again. Similar to what they did with TO this past off season.

Fair point--but there's a problem with it (below). I see two potential "business upsides," both of which are minimal, but for the sake of discussion, here goes: 1. Possibility of playoff revenue with a different coach. Absolutely none with current coach. 2. Increased confidence in team with new coach who has some experience in 2009 might lead to more ticket purchases in 2010. Here's the problem with looking at it strictly from a business point of view: The head coach is going to be responsible for what, a difference in 2000 or 3000 season tickets? Maybe 10,000? In a TV-revenue league, that's virtually no effect on the team's bottom line, no matter who coaches the team. In other words, there isn't much of a financial incentive for on-the-field success in the NFL. If management isn't looking at it from a football point of view, there's no hope.
belairski Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 There is ZERO , NONE, NADA chance you will see Dick fired by Ralph.....ZERO CHANCE it should have been done a year ago....so we all should have expected this kind of season Ralph is happy with his boy "NO lower lip" so get used to it and move on. Dick isn't going anywhere and neither are the Bills ......... sorry reality check time.

Agreed! Jauron should not even be the Bills coach right now for this discussion to be brought up (again!). His contract extension NEVER should have been given early last season, and he should have been fired during the season, with the Bills free-fall of losses in the second half of the year.

But 1) I believe there is little hope of this team making the playoffs this season with or without a new head coach. Particularly if we lose to the fish today. 2) That might help some, but I think the best time to give the season ticket holders hope for the future is when they have the season ticket renewal forms in their hands and catch them in a moment of weakness, like what happened with TO. I think a head coach switch is worth more than 3000 season ticket sales at this moment in time with all the DJ lovin going on in Bills land. And if we finish this season 7-9 or worse, even more so.
Chalkie Gerzowski Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 I think Chad Henne has a good game, Dolphins win by 7-10..... winning is hard in the NFL.... then the team is basically on trial against the other saddies on the edge of Lake Erie next week.
nucci Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Why is it even an IF? There is no way Miami falls to 0-4. Don't understand this? Why not?
Poeticlaw Posted October 4, 2009 Author Posted October 4, 2009 Don't understand this? Why not? This performace is poor nothing has changed hes the same ole coach and we have the same ole team,0-8 in the division since last season, 3-10 since last season, 1-4 and the bottom of our divison now. Screw continutity, he has no cahing sense and it doesnt matter who coaches this team for the rest of the year it has to be better then what Jauron is doing . FIRE HIM AFTER THE GAME PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
UConn James Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 To go with pink day in the NFL, DJ should be given a pink slip after this total !@#$ing abomination.

FIRE HIM AFTER THE GAME PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Remember the Bills are an incredibly cheap organization. Dick Jauron could blow up the GD airport and still have a job.

FIRE HIM AFTER THE GAME PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Bills players have flat out quit on Dick Jauron just like he quit on them with that 4 and 1 call last week. I was afraid of this happening. When a head coach doesn't have your back after three quarters of blood sweat and tears, don't count on them having yours going forward. The Bills need to fire Dick Jauron if for nothing else than to let the players know the object of winning games does matter again.

You make a valid point, but in the NFL you cannot fire the team so you bring in a new HC to see if they can get better results. After 3 7-9 seasons and 2 games the team shoulda/coulda won, I think a change is needed and DJ is the easiest choice.
billsfan_34 Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 if we beat miami....fire jauron. stupid thread Whats stupid is you cant read

I think the Singletary's mid-season hiring was good for the 49ers from a business point of view. It brought accountability to the players who responded with wins, which generated off-season excitement. Find the right guy, like the 9ers did, and the team begins to improve immediately, which generates excitement for renewals for next year. Of course, there is no liklihood of Ralph finding the right guy. He's horrible at hiring GMs and coaches.
