How long will it be

Three weeks into the season, the Bills have experienced quite a few significant injuries. Butler and Schouman out for the season, Posluszny probably 6-8 weeks, and now McKelvin and Whitner. The former may be for multiple weeks.

Quite a few fans around here in 07 chalked that season's failure up to injuries. It's almost as if we search for outs to explain why the team is so miserable. Inevitably there will be posts about why injuries, and not inept management are responsible.

Never mind that the four backup LB's on the roster all are UDFAs that weigh less than 230 or the OL is one of the youngest in NFL history. Those items don't matter, because they're shorthanded at many positions once again.

Not for nothing but the digs at LB on this team are overrated. Cover 2 defenses don't require studs nor will there ever be the money to pay them. Look at Indianapolis.

The defense made more than enough plays to win yesterday but the offense hung them out to dry. Trentative was his normal self and the decision to draft Maybin over Oher looks more ridiculous as the season goes on.

You can't have studs everywhere.

In the salary cap age, I'm not looking for team wide talent like Buffalo had in the late eighties and early nineties. It's just not going to happen. Polian, to his credit has focused on the positions hardest to find, like QB and DE. Indy doesn't have names at LB, and rarely do those guys stay with the Colts. BP lets guys like Cato June go because he'll replace them. But he's got someone behind them who has some experience and feels is ready to play.

The defense played well for 3 quarters and tired in the 4th. Reminded me of the NYG game in 2007 when the same thing happened. That's not all on them, because if the offense scores some points, the defense isn't on the field as much.

Its a good excuse to bring in a new GM and HC if it becomes another excuse for failure in my opinion.

We have players getting hurt trying to play above and beyond their capabilities just like last season. Our offense is killing our defense again. I'm a huge fan of TE's, everyone knows that, but this has got to come to an end, somehow, someway we have to end this cycle of being a sub par football team even if it means starting all over again from scratch.

A the current rate, might be a good excuse. I believe we are averaging 2 major injuries per game. Extrapolate for 16 games, Bills will have 32 major injuries for the year...about par for the course for DJ's well-prepared teams.

This team needed every break and opportunity to have any kind of success this season. I don't mean to sound too pessimistic, but the losses from injuries suffered so far this season are enough to sink the ship when combined with the o-line and coaching.

Injuries have always been an excuse since jauron got here.

look at the weekly injury report:

Dick Jauron; questionable; brain damage, lack of testicular fortitude

As far as Indy's LBs go, we had Freddie Keiaho in for a visit, and declined to make a move. He's not a worldbeater by any stretch, but he probably barely makes a million dollars a year - it's not that we need superstars at LB; it's that we seem to be ignoring opportunities to bring in role-players.

Fixed that for you.

The fans in Chicago saw this show from 99-03, and it never ends well. Why do we think it's going to be different either.
