Brees' success can be attributed to Sean Payton. You'll be hard pressed to find a more dynamic coach/QB combo in the NFL. Payton had success in the past with turning old, sent-to-the-pasture QBs around, ie Collins in NY, Bledsoe in Dallas, and Brees came into a prime position. I can say with confidence that if Brees had gone to another team, especially one with a defense-minded head coach, then he wouldn't be having the success he's having now.

Well that's false. Sean Payton had nothing to do with Brees' last year in SD.

When I say that I mean the crazy numbers he's been putting up since he's been with the Saints. He was starting to come into his own in San Diego but Payton took him up a few more notches.

Lest we forget, that Brees was about to be run out of San Diego for poor production which he then stepped up as soon as Philip Rivers was drafted in the 1st round. Brees in Buffalo during those years would have been no more productive then JP.

Agreed. If the Bills drafted Brees, he'd likely be long gone, by now.

What a crock. The Bills wanted Marcus Stroud, but he was picked by the Jags at #13 right before the Bills picked. They then traded down and got their next guy -- Clements. Williams came in as a defensive guy and got rid of their best DT - Ted Washington - because he was "too fat." He wanted a DT or failing that another defensive player. The guy was a lousy coach, and has never been particularly trustworthy (ask Adam Archuleta about the latter point). Moreover, the Bills did NOT perceive the QB position as a weakness in 01.
