Got_Wood Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 It's a lot easier to plan for the New England offense when you have a QB that ran the offense for the Patriots and watched Brady's every move during training camp the last 2 years (he watched Brady before he went down last season as well). Here are some quotes from Rex Ryan: "He did a great job of preparing our team, running the scout team, putting in some plays that they would check to if they saw certain looks" "We got plenty of coaches here, but he was helpful on the practice field." Full article here: http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/3453/ryan-on-oconnell-the-kids-a-jet ://http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/pos...the-kids-a-jet ://http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/pos...the-kids-a-jet I'm guessing O'Connell knew Brady's tendencies, some of the offensive play calls, what plays they run in certain formations and scenarios, etc. The Jets may be a good team this year, but they had some help in this one. I hope we demoralize these guys when we play in a few weeks. I would love for the Bills to be the team that shuts Rex Ryan's big mouth up!
Fan in San Diego Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 I always knew some of those practice squad signings were to pick their brains. BB always signs someone we cut from camp.
Got_Wood Posted September 23, 2009 Author Posted September 23, 2009 Turnabout is fair play. I agree, it's fair play. I guess the point of this post is to point out the fact that it's week 2 in the NFL and it's too early to find out who the best teams are and aren't (as evidenced by our start last season). They had some help this last game, and they are a beatable team. I'm really looking forward to playing these guys.

billsfreak Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Nothing wrong with that, do you think Lawyer Milloy kept his mouth shut when we got him right before the season opener and spanked the Pats 31-0 a few years ago? We might have still won that game, but I don't think if would have been a blowout, it was as if we knew what was coming, and probably did-thanks to Milloy.

While I'm sure this helped, the Jets were the only team that didn't play scared and knocked Brady around all game. Tommy Boy wasn't so sharp when he had some heat on him, and didn't have Wes Welker running wild in the slot. Heat on Brady and the loss of Welker did them in.

It's funny that Rex Ryan was so open about it though. This has to make Belichik really mad. The next time those two teams play, it's going to get ugly.
Albany,n.y. Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 It's a good thing the Jets game is in Toronto. O'Connell has been studying the WNY weather for many years & could have helped the Jets gameplan for a December game in Orchard Park.
Hazed and Amuzed Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 I'll tell you something, I like this Ryan character. We could use someone with balls like his in Buffalo. I have a feeling that he's going to be a thorn in our side for some time...I hope I'm wrong.

Their defense has looked impressive so far.
DPR4444 Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 just to clarify, we're not talking about the Ch. 2 weatherman.

Their defense has looked impressive so far. That's why I think he would do better in a smaller market. He seems like a guy the whole city could rally around...
RayFinkle Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 I always knew some of those practice squad signings were to pick their brains. BB always signs someone we cut from camp. You think the Pats need insider info to beat the Bills? THAT is funny!!
The Senator Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 You think the Pats need insider info to beat the Bills? THAT is funny!! Judging from the fact that the cheatriettes* are one last-minute Leodis McKelvin brain-sprain from being 0-2, I'd say yeah - maybe they do.

The next time those two teams play, it's going to get ugly. My gut feeling is that is why he did it, to show up BB and tick him off. The same reason all 4 captains that he sent out for the coin toss were former Patriots.
billsfreak Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 You think the Pats need insider info to beat the Bills? THAT is funny!! They haven't needed it in about a decade, and probably still don't right now, but hopefully things will soon change. (fingers, legs and eyes crossed!)
timba Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Serves the Pats* right! Way to be RR, using bellicheats own methods on him.

Proving once again the apple don't fall far
