nero47 Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Going for it on 4th and inches on our own 37 early in the game. That showed complete confidence in our young guys, and was a complete 180 by DJ.
NobesBLO13 Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Agreed very un DJ like. I was at the game and about to take a bathroom break figuring a punt. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come.
Phlegm Alley Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 If the players (ie TO) weren't so insistent, I bet he wouldn't have gone for it. The players, obviously felt confident, and they knew fully well that they were dominating the LOS and there was no way TB could stop them. Remember there was a 15 yard face mask penalty assessed on that play as well, further bettering our field position.
nero47 Posted September 21, 2009 Author Posted September 21, 2009 Agree on TO, but the coach has to also have confidence to go against his nature.
Dan Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Agreed that was a huge decision and play. It was so completely anit-Jauron that I wondered if he was at the bathroom. I was hoping he'd go for it just because its something he's never done before.
BuffaloWings Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 As important as that play was (and as much as I was surprised by it), the more important piece was the defense shutting down TB in the 3rd quarter. After the Jackson fumble and resulting TD, I had the feeling we were going down the same road once again. You could see how flat the offense was, but I was happy with the D's performance in the 3rd. The offense eventually came around and got some points, but the 3rd quarter defense was a big contributor to the win, IMO.
