That is indeed great news--there are very few guys we're losing next year that we care about. The only two I can think of now are TO (who will in all likelihood be gone) and Reed (who should come back relatively cheap if we want him). Youboty may be restricted somehow as he's in his 4th year of his deal now and McCargo is in the last year of his as well, I believe, but hasn't really turned any heads in his years here. If our young guys progress as we'd like to see them do, if we can get Reed back and go out and sign one or two additional FA's and have a good 2010 draft (meaning 2-3 impact players from year 1), this team may finally be ready to make some real noise next year, after hopefully an overachieving season this year.....

If Reed goes they still have a deep WR corps and shouldn't miss him even with TO gone too. JMO Evans, Hardy, Johnson, Parrish and hopefully Reed. I think they'll keep him here but it's not all hell breaking loose if he goes. A third round pick in 2010 could replace him. Also, Nelson and Jackson are very good receivers.

McCargo likes the new DL coach and won't be expensive to keep. It seems he's finally starting to tap his potential.

Youboty is a ?. He's great when healthy but is rarely healthy. It will be interesting to see his value on the open market, if the Bills let him get that far. They really don't need him because Lankster looks like he has room to improve starting from a high level.

The two big questions are will 2010 be an uncapped year and if so how will it affect contracts?

 Nice! I am glad we finally decided to keep our own. It sucked drafting replacement CBs the past 10+ years. Who else is eligible for free agency next season? We have a nice young team, it would be good if we could keep them together for years

Nice signing. Maybe now people can spare us the mindless drivel about the Bills drafting a CB in round 1 of the 2010 draft.

True. Now Jauron can wait until 2011 for another corner, and grab a safety in 2010.

When it comes to mindless drivel, you never disappoint.

re-signs

resigns means he quit

My bad and it has been corrected. Anyhow, McGee has been a great player for us. Solid corner and physical. As good as a CB he has been, I thought he was an even better KR but that duty has gone to McKelvin. I guess the Bills finally learned something after letting the likes of Nate Odomes, Jeffrey Burris, Thomas Smith, Jabrari Greer, Antoine Winfield and Nate Clements go leave via free agency. It sucks redrafting the position and prevents you from filling other voids when good players have to be replaced.

Per AP: 4-year extension.

Perfect--that will cover him until he's 32-33, or basically the rest of the prime of his career and maybe a year two past. Effectively means he's likely to end his career as a Bill, which is fine by me. Many thanks, John.

No doubt, can we give the CB's a break in our next draft please, I like the ones we have already, geeesh

That's huge. Just shows - the guys that have the right attitude get what they want. Jackson's another good example, as is Stroud. I know I'm going to sound like such a homer, but Brandon seems to be doing an okay job (though I still think we could've done better on the Peters deal). And we're filling the seats moreso than the Jags and several others in a tougher market, too.

Anyway - psyched for "Game Day" and glad he'll be with us 4 more years...

Good move Mcgee has at least 3-4 quality seasons after this one left. He is too good to let go. Now we know that we can get some solid players in the front seven or on offense in next years draft instead of going DB yet again.
