YOU LIE! Last year there were plenty of times where Trent or JP had all day in the pocket sitting there patting the ball and everybody was wondering WTF! Many of the sacks we gave up were either coverage sacks or a few missed assignments but overall the pass protection was adequate; now the run blocking was a different story. The difference between this line and the one from 09 shown SO FAR is the versatility. There is no way we could run as many toss and outside runs with last years group because Dockery and Walker could not block on the move. The middle of the line couldn't establish a push for the inside running game. So even though we had the largest O-line we couldn't run the ball; this O-line is better equip to carry out the zone blocking scheme and get to the next level that the staff wants. That combined with the ability to run screens gives us way more options to keep the D off balance.

Another big difference between this years line is the center. Last year the pressure wasn't coming from the outside that much BUT there was a lot of pressure coming from the interior offensive line. Dockery at times (Granted this was only against better defenses but still the guy at times sucked) allowed pressure but the combo of Preston and Fowler let up so much pressure that the pocket was hardly there at times.

Hangartner should be a huge improvement (Based off of Monday it looks like he already is) he can at least handle somewhat bigger nose tackles. Hangartner's play alone should allow Trent more time and a cleaner pocket than last year.

The problem is Bell. I watched the replay of the game on NFL network today and this dummy was what cost us a last minute comeback, letting his man through for the final sack of Edwards. Not only that, he is so stupid he doesn't know how to line UP!

How an organization can release Langston Walker and throw this dumbBell into our starting LT position is only something Ralph could answer.

Yep, Bell got beat with the game on the line, had a bunch of penalties, and overall played like it was his first game and he had just missed a whole lot of practice snaps to injury...OH WAIT...THAT'S BECAUSE IT WAS AND HE DID!

I don't think anybody was going to confuse us on Monday for the 80s Redskins, but this line exceeded everybody's expectations for the game at hand, helping us put up 17 points, but also more importantly showed a lot of promise for what can unfold over the next 15 games and the next several years.

Well Bell isn't going to be Joe Jacoby (The prototype of the modern day left tackle and one of the few guys who could block LT) but Bell played better than he was expected and due to the circumstances you mentioned he stands to only get better (More snaps more practice etc). Simply put he did a solid job at times protecting Trent's blind side yet he did make a bunch of mental errors and had a few bumps in the road but overtime those should get ironed out.
