H2o Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 On the second to last drive, in the hurry up offense, Brady completed a pass that the officials ruled a 1st down. The screen showed that they were clearly atleast a half yard short with the system they use to show the ball and yardage to the 1st. Am I the only one who noticed that?
bills44 Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 there were a few spots that clearly worked it in the Pats* favor. It's not like the Pats* having to run another play to convert 3rd and short would've made a difference at all. Oh, wait....
bbb Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Yes, there were at least two horrible spots on that drive.........The refs were horrible for both teams last night.
jayg Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 There were many questionable spots last night. I watched with several redskins fans and they noticed too.
eMoulds Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 It could have made a gigantic difference. IIRC, it would have been 3rd and 1+ (Welker was more than a yard short, truly a bizarre call). BB is too smart to go downfield in that situation as an incompletion would leave the Pats* with a game-on-the-line 4th down. He would have in all likelihood run the ball or gone with a conservative pass to pick up the first there. It would have basically set the drive back a play and ten seconds. They probably don't score before the two minute warning and they probably are forced to go for the onsides kick. Simply making the right call would have substantially increased the odds of a victory since an onsides kick is such a low percentage play. But we should have won regardless.
John from Riverside Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 It was one of the big things I noticed last night.....the announcers were like "wait oh okkkkkaaaaay" The other thing was seeing the faces of the patriot fans.....god I was enjoying that right up until McKelvin's fumble.
Flbillsfan#1 Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Yeah, I noticed as well and if Dick were a GOOD Coach he would have challenged it.
bills44 Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Yeah, I noticed as well and if Dick were a GOOD Coach he would have challenged it. he saves his challenges and pisses away his TOs
seq004 Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Yep, I sure did! I remember thinking it looked about a good yard away from the 1st down marker and it would come back to bite us. I guess it was another "Just give it to them" for the Pats.
Peter Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 It reminded me of that horrible spot that we got in the playoff game against the Titans. I cannot recall where there has been a "horrible" spot in our favor.
plenzmd1 Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 so do the coaches in the booth have the same TV feed we do? I mean to us its apparent as we have the yellow line...do they?

IIR the official ran out at the last minute and moved the ball at least a half yard forward. Jaws said something like "that's a very fortuitous spot for the Patriots". I got a couple of calls from friends of mine who are not Bills fans saying, "man, you guys are getting screwed."
Simon Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 That was the 4th one on the night. Most of those ridiculous spots came from the line judge wearing #100.
Thoner7 Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 It happens all the time with the Pats. I am used to it.
first_and_ten Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Yeah, I noticed as well and if Dick were a GOOD Coach he would have challenged it. Exactly what I was thinking. I think everyone else knew it was a horrible spot, why wasn't it challenged?
BuffaloRebound Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 That was the 4th one on the night. Most of those ridiculous spots came from the line judge wearing #100. Think that was the same guy who flagged Bell for not being on the line of scrimmage that negated a 3rd down conversion. Bell was not blatantly behind the line. BS call.
Lori Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 That was the 4th one on the night. Most of those ridiculous spots came from the line judge wearing #100. Brad Riter has a screenshot of that play on Facebook. Welker's elbow is on the hashmark at the 26, with everything else behind it. I'll copy what I posted there: From the gamebook: 2-10-BUF 35 (2:38) (No Huddle, Shotgun) T.Brady pass short middle to W.Welker to BUF 25 for 10 yards (R.Corner). For statistic-calculating purposes, the ball would have had to be completely over the hashmark at the 36 for it to be considered first-and-10 at the 35. In that picture, the ball is not completely over the 26, so there's no possible way that completion was good for a full 10 yards. Third down.
