Recently I discovered this great new band out of my home state of New Jersey called The Gaslight Anthem. Their sound is a mix of late 70's punk rock, Early 60's late 50's rock music, and Bruce Springsteen. I highly recommend that anyone check them out if you like rock music. Their first album sink or swim is a much harder sound and is more in the vein of the late 70's punk influence while their newer album the 59 sound is more influenced by the late 50's early 60's stuff.

While they are still Indy they are getting pretty big and you should check them out before they get too big. Honestly they are the best new rock band I have heard in this decade. I am going to see them in NYC in October and I have been told they sound awesome live. Also they have a 4 song LP released in between their two albums called Senor and the Queen its more in line with their Sink or Swim album.

Tell me what you guys think. I love this band and they are my new favorite band :flirt:

You could find their stuff all over the internet for a free listen (Myspace, Facebook, even Youtube)

Thanks for the recommendation! Looked around and listened to a few of their songs; definitely a good sound. I like Great Expectations.

I like their first album sink or swim its a heavier sound. Yet I do think the 59 sound is a great album but much less heavier but a smoother sound. My favorite song from them is either Wooderson (Off of sink or swim) or Say I won't (Off of their senor and the queen LP).
