Thinking about this season and the pessimism abounding got me to thinking about the Bills this decade. I have kids and they have not seen the Bills in the playoffs in their lifetime. Yet they wear their jerseys proudly, watch the games with me on TV, go to "Kids Day" at the Ralph, and this season had me buy several boxes of "TO's" to be eaten for breakfast on game days.

And I remember 2 years ago when I was watching the superbowl my daughter came in and was watching for a few minutes, then asked "Which team is the Bills?". When I replied "The Bills didn't make it to the superbowl this year." She had a puzzled look on her face for a minute before she asked "If the Bills aren't playing why do they bother putting the game on TV?" and left the room.

I guess if they can stay fans never having seen them in the playoffs, I can at least hope for the best.

Now tell me that she hates the Dolphins, and that's just damn good parenting.

Some day, the response might be:

"If the Bills ARE playing why do they bother putting the game on TV?"
