BuffaloBill Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 What a flick. I just finished watching a rerun of the Deer hunter on cable. It is an awesome movie. My only complaint is that the deer hunting scenes are filmed in Washington State. The tree lines and glaciers are not fitting of Pennsylvania. Great movie even if much of it was filmed in Ohio or West Virginia. This is probably the fifth time I have seen it.
swede316 Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 Great movie...Just watched Balckhawk Down here down under on regular TV (they show it uncut and commercial free on TV1) . Some movies just make you proud to be American and to have served even if you don't agree with the politics.
GOBILLS78 Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 Good movie. I remember it being horrendously slow-moving at times, but it wrapped up nicely. The piano solo scene before the boys go of to war is a great scene. EDIT: Off, not of. And I'm usually a stickler. Damn.
KD in CA Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 Good movie. I remember it being horrendously slow-moving at times, but it wrapped up nicely. The piano solo scene before the boys go of to war is a great scene. That was pretty much my take on the Deerhunter. Some great scenes, but dragged out way too long.
The Senator Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 Seeing it when it was first released, I remember thinking, "Will this freaking wedding scene EVER end?"
Kiwi Bills fan Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 Slow at times, but with one of the most intense scenes I've ever seen.
MarkyMannn Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 Who would have thought Meryl Streep could look sort of hot sort of..............
Pete Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 Great film. Deniro's role is great. I think he is an amazing friend in that movie
Andrew in CA Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Seeing it when it was first released, I remember thinking, "Will this freaking wedding scene EVER end?" Amen, brotha. That wedding scene was longer than any wedding I've attended! Good movie, though.
tennesseeboy Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 good movie... a little bit of a stretch on the believability scale. Gotta give Cimino a lot of artistic license. He really blew it on Heaven's Gate a few years later. Took every little fault he exhibited in Deerhunter and multiplied it.

The wedding scene was wayyyyy to drawn out, but nevertheless, a great motion picture.
