Jeff Wright's Mullet Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Bold move by Dick Jauron. Based on what we all saw in the preseason I think this is a good move.
Fewell733 Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 glad they make the move now rather than 6 weeks from now. It's always a worse mistake to do nothing when you know the result of doing nothing will be failure. But its not like its a new system its just really a new play-caller. Which may be good enough. Turk showed he didn't seem to have much/any common-sense calling plays.

BuffaloWings Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 You know, I hate it when people like us posters suggest the team does something like this "because other teams do it". Now I'm wondering if DJ is on this board somewhere and/or if he's doing this because it's the trendy thing to do. Outside of that....wow. I'm a little taken aback by this. Maybe Jauron is feeling the heat already.
bills_fan Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Wait a minute...Turk sucked but firing him is somehow worse for us? Not saying Van Pelt will be better but Turk was pretty freakin' bad. PTR Agreed. But you have to figure that the system and the plays they practiced etc. are going to be what they run this year. No time to install anything new. So, basically AVP now calls the plays and we look stupid for firing our OC on the eve of the season. They could have given playcalling to AVP anyway. I just feel like we are a completely disorganized mess on the eve of the season. Very disheartening.
Dan Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Well, with the successful installation of the no huddle attack, Trent calls all his own plays. So I'm guessin' they just realized we really don't need an OC anyways.

SteamRoller67 Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/...-goes-schonert/ Is this legit? If so, good for AVP!
BillsVet Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 For the record, most NFL coaches do not get to hire as many OC's/DC's are DJ has. Normally, when you're not able to pick new coordinators (unless of course they're hired for a HC gig) you get the boot eventually.
Cynical Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 what does this mean? http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/ are we the 3rd team to can an OC before the season starts? EDIT: apparently, yes: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/rumor-mill/ I'll believe it when I "see" it, and not when it appears on a rumor site.
DanInUticaTampa Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I'll believe it when I "see" it, and not when it appears on a rumor site. PTF is pretty accurate.
Kettle Creek Football Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 AVP will be Head Coach next season, I believe... no matter how the team finishes the season. I guess AVP is to Ralph what Jason Garrett is to Jerry Jones!
Fewell733 Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 PTF is pretty accurate. with something like this they're pretty accurate
Endzone Animal Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 This just adds to the well earned perception of the franchise in a state of utter chaos, desperation and incompetence.

KD in CA Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Hang on here....people are actually UPSET by this news?? This offense couldn't possibly be worse if they let Trent just diagram plays on his stomach (you know, nerf football style). "TO, do a button hook. Everyone else go long."
