Erik Flowers Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I go to the bathroom for 5 minutes and this happens!!!! Holy Cr@p! (pun intended) I'm all for it. Agreed with others could have helped to make the move after the last year's final game. LOVE Alex Van Pelt! Always have.... GO BILLS! Get back in the bathroom and crap up a couple more firings!
BillsFan Trapped in Pats Land Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Was Ralph even at the game, as Schefert reported?
eMoulds Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 It’s shocking that an organization with a 100 year old owner that insists on constantly interfering with day to day football operations and decisions is dysfunctional. That’s pretty much the standard recipe for success in the modern NFL; I can’t understand why it’s not working here. HOF baby!!!
DrFishfinder Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Could be worse, it could be raining. It's not time to drive home from work yet.
macaroni Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I wonder if Turk was in effect "fired" prior to the end of the Lions game ...... I haven't watched it on TV yet .... but I remember thinking towards the latter part of the game that we were taking quite a few more shots down field than normal and it seemed like somebody else was calling the plays ......... Hmmmmmmm

AJ1 Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Chan Gailey anyone?....lmao.....and we were laughing at K.C. for doing the same thing. So we have 10 days to put a new offense in or will AVP just run Turks offense ? Turk's offense might be all right....but he couldn't call a game to save himself, literally.
DrFishfinder Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 THE COACHES ARE UNDER CONTRACT. IF RALPH FIRES THEM HE STILL HAS TO PAY THEM!!! Sorry about the caps but damn, some of you people are thick. Firing a coach isn't a cost cutting move. Schonert is going to get paid to sit home and watch games this season. This saves Ralph NOTHING! Maybe not money, but it might save Ralph some measure of embarrassment from seeing the offense play like Courtney Love was calling the plays on her first day of rehab after a 9 month propofol binge.
Dante Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Another cost cutting measure by Wilson? LOL don't laugh!! And the announced replacement is.............................. No one! Dick will do both jobs! With no extra compensation. He has to earn his keep somehow. It certainly isn't by being the HC.
reddogblitz Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 ESPN reports Ralph Wilson the driving force in Shonerts dismissal Hopefully this works out a little better than Ralph's decision to start RJ over Flutie in the "Music City Forward Lateral" game. I wonder what Ralph thinks about Hamdan? 9/17 163 yards is not bad ...
BillsFan Trapped in Pats Land Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 LOL don't laugh!! And the announced replacement is.............................. No one! Dick will do both jobs! Hit refresh.
Haven Moses Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I find it funny how this has turned into a gang bang on Ralph. Ralph has stood by for the last 10+ years. Letting Donahoe hire Gregg, letting Gregg hire Gilbride, letting Donahoe fire Gregg, letting Donahoe hire Mullarkey, hiring Marv, letting Marv keep Mullarkey, letting Mullarkey quit, letting Marv hire Jauron, letting Jauron & Co. run their own show for the last 3 years.... I am thrilled that Ralph wached that POS game and decided to do something. The status quo sucks. Hopefully Ralph continues with this zero tolerance policy.
DC Tom Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I wouldnt think he would be in catch up mode..He did play NFL qb for a while and he knows how to breakdown film and prepare for a game. The question is gonna be how is he at setting up certain plays, knowing the perfect time to go for it all versus knowing when to hammer the ball down someones throat... It's not that easy. If my project manager were fired today and I had ten days to prepare for the $10M contract we start executing next Monday, even though I've been a project manager before and know how to do budgeting and direct a project team and helped my PM with his project plan...I'd be in catch-up mode. There's simply a difference between being the guy who's responsible, and the guy who knows a lot but ultimately isn't responsible. And before you point out that what I do (software development) isn't football...I already know that. Preparing and managing a football offense is a lot harder.

Please prove this 'constantly interfering with day to day football operations' charge you just dreamed up. Shanahan, Cowher, etc. are out there just waiting to be had by season's end, along with a real plan for success. He's not freakin AL DAVIS for God's sake!!!! Man, it is getting pretty crazy around here.

I haven't watched it on TV yet .... but I remember thinking towards the latter part of the game that we were taking quite a few more shots down field than normal and it seemed like somebody else was calling the plays ......... Hmmmmmmm It probably wasn't the guy calling the plays, but the QB executing the plays. Hamdan was in. I'm not sure about Turk. I know he was calling plays with open receivers downfield that Trent was not throwing to. I know it's hard to tell on TV, but I was at the Clowns game last year and there were plenty of open receivers down field that were ignored by our QB. Maybe if we had a QB that didn't ignore these guys, Turk would be an offensive genius?

Bill from NYC Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 This move was really nothing special. Ralph stays with what he knows, and costs little. He fired TD and a recycled Marv Levy was wheeled in. Now, here comes AVP. I wonder how many other NFL teams would have hired AVP as their OC? About as many that would have hired Levy as their GM? Anyway.....good luck Alex!

Maybe if we had a QB that didn't ignore these guys, Turk would be an offensive genius? Maybe he was being coached to ignore those guys? I'm not saying I know that's the case - I suspect it's the case, given how the past three QBs seem to learn to make the exact same mistakes. But you do have to consider the possibility, at least.

I agree but the one thing he has to his advantage is he has been there form the beginning. Breaking down film, seeing the weakness and strengths. Granted you may be working on 2 separate projects thats have 2 entirely different goals but they have been together from the start and know where they stand. I am not saying you are going to see the early 90's offense but we will see better preparation. For gods sake we have too!
Guest dog14787 Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I think DJ's interview is coming up on ESPN shortly, plus T.O. twitters
