My point is why is it that other teams dont care if their #1 guy is double covered and continue to throw his way and the Bills just say "sh*t, they are taking lee away. I guess we better not throw his way". BTW for the 8 million a year he is being paid, he should be able to beat double teams. Dont mean that offensively, just asking because you are making a very common misconception on how to beat a double team. When a WR beats a double team that doesnt mean he is running wide open. It means he found a crease in the coverage where the QUARTERBACK was able to sling the ball in. What all these "Evans isnt good enough people" fail miserably to realize is that a QUARTERBACK is actually MORE important to a WR beating a double team than a WR is at the NFL level, ESPECIALLY when dealing with a WR in the mold of Lee Evans, S. Smith, M. Harrision, etc... The WR is rarely just going to "lose" both defenders. He is going to most often create a crease or window of opportunity for the QB to get the ball to him. That requires the WR and QB to be in tune and recognize where the soft spots on the defense will be. Trent has very often tried to force the ball to Lee because he doesnt throw to the area where Lee will the seperation, he waits until the seperation occurs then fires which is too late and allows the D to close. THis is just Football 101... There are many times where Lee gets the window and Trent fails to pull the trigger. I think a lot of this has to do with his confidence. Honestly, Trent plays a lot like he questions either his read, ability or arm strength to get the ball to where he wants. Maybe its a combo of all 3, I dont know, but watch someone like Manning, Warner, Favre, McNabb, etc...they throw with conviction and confidence win or lose. Trent seems to hesitate as if he is unsure unless the guy is wide open. Case example 1: S. Smith - with a healthy DelHomme he was considered the best WR in football and the one of the most productive in the game. When the QB gets hurt and David Carr comes in, S. Smith is literally a ghost of his former self. The rest of the team is the same EXCPET the QB and all of a sudden S. Smith cant beat double coverages? Come on now, Smith didnt change, the QB did and couldnt get him the ball where he was open, and that went on for the entire season. This is VERY similar to Lee as they are both similar style WR's... Case example 2: R. Moss - when he was Oak he was said to have lost a step and not able to abuse opposing defensive backs like he once was and wasnt explosive enough to beat double coverage anymore. All of a sudden he goes to NE and poof he sets single season recieving records and has the single greatest season by a WR in the history of the NFL. Then last year, without Tom Brady he goes back to having a solid season instead of a great season. A WR is the only player on the field whos succes is dependent on another player (the QB). A good QB can make bad WR's look better than they are. Case example: Every WR not named T.O. to ever play in Phi under the McNabb era. Donte Stalworth was one of the most dangerous WR in football that year in Philly never to do anything ever again and not a whole lot before. A bad QB can make great WR's look average... Silly Silly man! There you go explaining things logically and supporting it with real world examples. For shame!!!! Trent is GOD!!!! Lee Evans should be playing in the CFL!!!!
