If you can't read the stor it basically says the Redskins, who require multi-year contracts form season ticket holders, are suing people who have lost their jobs but still have years left on their deals. vincec Posted September 3, 2009 Share Posted September 3, 2009 Why don't the ticket holders in danger of default just re-sell their tickets to one of the 10,000 to 20,000 people still on the waiting list? I'm sure that they could recoup most if not all of their money and still hold onto the ticket rights for when times turn around economically. They could probably use the $$$ right now anyway. Anyone who has been to that god-awful mostrosity of a stadium in the last several yrs knows there are gobs of empty seats. I can get tickets to any game in 5 minutes for nearly face value. That waiting list is a total myth in an attempt to create false demand and pretend to keep the ticket values high. There might be small one for excellent - lower bowl-sideline seats, but not for the vast majority of the stadium. The CLub level is way too pricey for most people. Maybe the NFL teams should deal with their overpaid & overrated and over inflated ego players the same way they deal with granny here. Didn't Peters have two years left on his contract? The Bills should have sued Jason Peters for underperforming after sitting out and not playing or acting professionally for last season. A few teams start to do that and this nonsense stops. I do believe it is illegal to charge them for the seats, take them, then re sell them. I just hope someone can afford to fight them. I do not believe it is illegal. I have run into same thing in other areas as well. I "owned" a timeshare in Hawaii and place decided to try to charge all of the "owners" for renewal of lease whether "owners" were interested in renewing contract or not four years before lease renews. They took away rights to unit and put it as available for those who did not agree to fund extension even if annual "maintenance" charges were paid. Checked and lawyer says they can usually get away with this because the company has no guarantee that it will be paid even if they put a claim into court. He also told me that if you were outside area it was extremely unlikely that any out-of-state judge would honor claim so most they can do is give it to collector and ping credit report for 7 years. The $kins appear to be able to enforce this because they are willing to send lawyer$ to local courts but even getting a judgment does not guarantee they will get money nor lawyer fee$. silvermike Posted September 4, 2009 Share Posted September 4, 2009 I think the point isn't that the Skins shouldn't win if this goes to court - of course they'll win; she's in clear breach of contract. But you don't have to sue every case you might win; exercising your legal rights can still make you a douchbag. And it's unwise if you're in the business of getting people to believe that their personal happiness is tied up in the success of your company.
