The other tidbit was curious. This is the order of the reports:

12:40:31 pm The Bills have released LB Pat Thomas. The free-agent addition was expected to be a top reserve this year but has battled injuries since joining the Bills.

11:55:30 am Not participating at Bills practice: T Demetrius Bell, TE Derek Fine, CB Drayton Florence, WR James Hardy and WR Felton Huggins. DE Chris Kelsay and LB Pat Thomas were not in attendance.

Let the speculation begin.

Chris Brown reported Kelsay isn't there because he's in Chicago for his daughter having a surgical procedure done. And he also won't be back for the game.

Confidence in Nic Harris ?

Expecting a LB to be cut from another team?

Moving Maybin to LB ?

I think it's more of confidence in Buggs being the backup MLB.

Buggs has been an aminal in the pre-season. He's earned a spot on the roster, IMO.

I agree Buggs outplayed Thomas most of camp and preseason. Not a surprise here.

How many have bought a Maybin jersey??? I've been waiting for this to happen and was wondering myself if Maybin would jump at the chance at getting his college number back. Or should he wait a little longer and see if any number in the 90's could open up??? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm....................

Per Maiorana: "Pat Thomas, who the Bills signed as a free agent, was cut by the team today. Another wonderful scouting job by pro personnel man John Guy."

I'm sure John Guy had no delusions that Pat Thomas was the second coming of Ray Lewis.
