Anyone watching MNF?

First of all, let's get the facts straight. Favre was not behind him or blocking him in the back.

Second, it was an illegal block, but I don't consider it a "cheap shot." A cheap shot is when a player is deliberately trying to hurt another player, or, when a player who's perfectly capable physically and athletically of performing the legal play chooses not to, and instead perfomes the illegal play. People cut block all the time. Favre is a 40 year old brittle man, what the hell is he supposed to do, stand there? When was the last time in his 30 year career that Favre was split out wide and had to block? Never. He's inexperienced. He doesn't know what the hell he's doing when throwing a block. It was a split second decision, not something premeditated. He shouldn't have performed the illegal block, no doubt, but it certainly wasn't a "cheap shot."

Edit: And you're damn right if it was a WR I'd call it a cheap shot. A physically capable player such as a WR, who also is taught how to block, should not crack back at the knees. Favre is a 40 year old QB who doesn't know any better.

Favre might as well have been directly behind him, because he was coming from an angle from behind the play that Wilson was trying to defend.

Who the hell cares how old the guy is? That is completely irrelevant. What is he supposed to do? Throw a normal block, get in the way a little bit, clothesline him, run to the sidelines, etc. Anything but look at Wilson and take a dive at his knees knowing damn well that he had no clue that Favre was coming from the back side of the play. And if you watch the replay, it wasn't exactly a "split second decision". Favre ran from the backside of the play 5+ yards in order to crackback on Wilson.

If guys like Tirico and Jaws, who get paid to watch and analyze football for a living, immediately call out Favre for the cheap shot, why can't you understand that it was a cheap shot?

That sucked, Brett. When you have someone lined up like that, you bury your shoulder into their chest and BLOW THEM UP with the easiest block you'll ever have in your life. That should've been an easy, clean, and devastating block. That the defender would have gotten right back up from.

Fact: If Trent made that block, we would be applauding his toughness. We would not mind if the penalty killed the drive. We would be offering to pay the fine out of our own pockets.

On this board? You must be joking. People would be calling for Trent's execution if he did that and got a 15 yarder.

Absolutely bush league move by Favre. Wilson never saw him so there's no reason he couldn't have hit him hight and still probably knocked him on his ass. Just another reason to root against this POS.
