Anyone ever do something like this before? Doc said it looked like I had a fracture and I put enough stress on it to pop the piece of bone off. How long of a recovery am I looking at?

By the way, I think this is similar to a procedure my cousin had after he broke his finger during football practice. Expect about a 3 to 4 month recovery period at least.

Had a similar thing happen to my pinkie finger. Still have the screws in my knuckle, the operation is a breeze, it is the rehab that is a B word. I think it was at least 5 or 6 weeks of rehabbing. I still can't bend the finger very far.

bbb Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I amputated my thumb right at the same spot - the knuckle.......at least you'll have the whole thing available when it heals!! I started wiping my butt left handed and never changed back once my right hand become functional! Other than that, I don't have a lot to report.
Chef Jim Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I broke my thumb a long time ago. Two things that I remember that were very hard to do. Tie my shoes and roll a joint. Got better at rolling joint seeing as you only tie your shoes once a day.
