SDS Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 We had some members a few years ago state they were grandfathered in and so they receive the ST w/o paying for any extra programming. Does this still apply to those people? Anyone else getting it like this?
Guffalo Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I have been a subscriber since 1990 or so, I have the base programming, as low as I can go, everytime I talk to them they say I am one of the earlier NFL package subscribers, but I still cannot get just the ticket, I need the basic subscription.

I had ala carte for 1 or 2 years - but then told me that ended. There is a thread in the Consumer's forum that has several members saying they were grandfathered in... I was wondering if they or anyone else still were.
Fires Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Scott, I still get just the NFL package. I'm trying to remember, but it was a couple years ago they told me I had to pay a monthly subscriber/access fee of like $5 a mo. to keep the account active during offseason, but in return I wouldn't have to subscribe to any packages. On opening day last season, I hadn't had my boxes on in a while and I discovered that DTV had switched to the new Generation boxes. I spent 1/2 the game on the phone, and in the end they sent 2 Free boxes as long as I agreed to keep the same programming for 2 years. They still had it last year, so I'm sure it's still around this season too.

BuffaloBill Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 I pray for the day that some provider other than Direct TV gets the rights. While cable companies are not much better in terms of customer service I do not like DTV.
Fires Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Scott, I was Grandfathered in. Sorry I forgot to mention that.

Independent surveys show that DirecTV's customer service is ahead of cable... http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/secon...assetId=2500004 http://www.marketingcharts.com/television/...east-regiongif/

If I didn't like football I know I wouldnt have Directv. But again, probably not cable either.
