Just Jack Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 The Appendix: Useful and in Fact Promising The body's appendix has long been thought of as nothing more than a worthless evolutionary artifact, good for nothing save a potentially lethal case of inflammation. Now researchers suggest the appendix is a lot more than a useless remnant. Not only was it recently proposed to actually possess a critical function, but scientists now find it appears in nature a lot more often than before thought. And it's possible some of this organ's ancient uses could be recruited by physicians to help the human body fight disease more effectively.
Beerball Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 So what you're saying is that Steely is less than an appendix?
damj Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 How bad? I'll sell you mine. Mine is 31 years gone. We'll start the bidding at $5 ... do I hear $10?!?
The Dean Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 We might be in the middle of an appendix revival. I just read this very short article last night, on the can: http://www.scientificamerican.com/podcast/...s-my-a-09-08-24

LeviF Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I'm still taking offers here for mine ... like new ... never used. Mine's younger, and I'll even throw in a spleen (only slightly damaged) absolutely free. I'll take offers on mine now.
