I don't think you could be more wrong. Edwards has the ability to be a real good QB. This coaching staff doesn't prepare our players, as well as the coaching staff's prior. Fitz? You have to be kidding.

It is so much fun reading or listening to the Trent apologists. He looked bad last night because he sucks. End of story.

Trent LOOKED lost because Trent IS lost. Time to stop trying to find every excuse under the sun for why he isn't more successful. He has a lot of improving to do. He throws the ball late. He has no pocket presence.

Last year people's excuse was the concussion which in an interview Trent himself said was NOT the case. What will it be this year?

Ryan Fitz, other than the one interception, was able to move the ball and had a good day with the 2nd team offense against the Packers 2nd string defense. I know the "no huddle" doesn't = the "hurry up", but Ryan seemed to understand a bit better the tempo that makes it a benefit.

It's quite possible that Edwards is the 3rd best QB on this team.

There is A LOT of blame to go around with this team, but I would not put it on Evans. He cannot throw the ball to himself people. Insert Evans into Indy's offense and watch Peyton Manning make him a bonafide star...

I know, people really forget just how bad our offense has been in the last 8 or 9 years aside from the first half of 2002. I mean, just think how good Moulds would've been if Indy drafted him and not Harrison?

Evans will never be cut, I have no idea how anyone can think that is possible, ever.

Trent looked like that because Dom Capers is a great coach. We don't have the ability to prepare our team against superior coaching. John Gruden would make Edwards a star.

I do not buy that it is all coaching. Perhaps, the coaches have to admit they do not have the talent they need and go about changing it. I am personally beginning to believe it is both lack of talent and lack of good coaching that is hurting this team.

The point of the post was not to make apologies for Trent. It was to say it is maybe time to get real and recognize that Lee Evans is not a true #1 - all the makings of a great number 2 - and Roscoe Parrish sure as hell is not an NFL wide receiver.

In no way do I suggest that Trent is immune to scrutinty. Rather, Iwas looking at the issue from a different vantage point.

Very good receivers look very good when they play with good quarterbacking, good running game, good coaching, good lines, good scheme, good complementary players, with a good defense for field position, and good play-calling in an offense that has had time to gel over some time.

Lee Evans has very little of any of those, except complementary players when TO comes back.

Sure he needs to do his part and get open and catch the ball when it is there (and he really should have come back harder on the late throw by Trent last night that was picked off) but he is one of the least of our problems.

Lee Evans is a #1 WR. He's not Larry Fitzgerald. We know this. There are PLENTY of teams out there that would LOVE to have this guy. It's not his fault if Trent can't throw a deep ball. Don't blame Lee for being something he is not. What he is is a field stretching deep threat. That is not Trent's strength. What he is not is an over the middle 6'4" 220lb big body.

The reason Trent looks lost is a due to many factors..One he is scared to take a chance throwing the ball downfield. He doesnt have a cannon arm like Rodgers showed last night on his scramble rocket pass to Driver for six to makeup for his indecision in the pocket. @ his receivers have no clue how to come back for a ball or run a fire drill when all breaks down, they just stand around and watch him or whoever is qbing get crushed. 3rd our oline is putrid and filled with rookies who are gonna get schooled all year by defensive lines and lb blitzes. Our running game does well to get back to the line of scrimmage and last but certainly not least is our coaching ..Play calling routes that are called are taking to long to develop or we are running screen passes into the teeth of the rush and losing yards or fumbling footballs..Brandon is a marketing pro running football operations and we have a (cough Cough) HOF owner with his head up his ass..You expected better??lol...I wish the Bills had a shot but the nail in the coffin of this years version was hammered in the minute Jauron was retained..If nothing else a good coach could overcome someof the personnel deficiencys created by our personnel decisionmakers but to no avail this yr..

Those are all contributing factors to the teams success or lack there of. I see other QBs get the job done with similar problems.

I hope Trent does well this year. I really do. If he is successful our team will be successful. I have never made excuses for his play though. One excuse I hope people will quit trotting out there is the coaching and play calling. Trent is running the no huddle.

Guess who can call the plays now? He can make the appropriate changes at the line of scrimmage if he bothered to study how to read a 3 - 4 defense.

Maybe I'm wrong, but shouldn't the coaches encourage Trent to force some pass downfield during the preseason. These games don't count and it could help with his confidence especially if he hit a couple of pass to his receivers. Let us not forget that this is the same offense we had last year without T.O.

Maybe if we're lucky Trent will turn out to be Chad Pennigton post shoulder surgeries. That's only a half insult as it means he could become an efficient care taker of the offense with no deep ball.

This will be his 3rd year in the league. I think we know what kind of arm and velocity on the ball Trent has. If Trent threw the ball with his "manhood" women would tell him it was a good size to be nice.

Neither is Trent Edwards.

Not trying to be argumentative, but if Lee is not a #1 then 2/3rds of the league don't have a #1 WR.

for crying out loud our back ups are not better than trent edwards, that much is obvious.

now i think this is trent's make or break year. he needs to step up and play well.

if he is like he was last year, clearly we need a big qb upgrade.

so i'll know for sure how he is at qb at the end of the season, but i already know what we have at WR. with TO and evans in there, we are much much better than with just Evans. we need at least one of Nelson, Hardy, or that other big kid we got last year to come alive this season as well.

reed parrish and evans together are just so super easy for teams to eliminate.
