Chef Jim
The "what's a map" comment in the GPS thread reminded me of a conversation I had with my wife last night. Things you don't see or hear anymore and most of them are recent dissapearances. I'll start. 1. A busy signal.

Bullpen
Hear: (piggy-backing on Chef's busy signal) A real phone ring Van Miller misidentifying a Bills player I'm (insert name) and I approved this message (thankfully) popping and scratching from playing a real vinyl record Cash register sounds (like the ones at the beginning of Pink Floyd's "money") See: Kids playing wiffleball/stickball Persimmon wood drivers Baseball players NOT wearing batting gloves People driving in the right-hand lane (may be Colorado specific) Longneck glass soda bottles (the old "no deposit no return" bottles) People wearing their pants above their hips Regular looking athletic shoes
stuckincincy
MD license plates. Butter pats in restaurants. Veterans selling poppies on Memorial and Veteran's Days. Very symbolic, it was... A "Good Morning" greeting. I do it, usually resulting in a gaped mouth with a jaw dropped. Or dead air on the phone.

shrader
Oh man, that's just sad. I use them too often sometimes. I'll say thank you to someone before I hang up the phone and ask myself....what did I just thank them for? I'm so used to saying "you too" to the "have a nice day" I get when I leave a store. I usually end up saying it even when the cashier's last words are something like "thank you". Then as I'm walking out I realize that my response made absolutely no sense. Anyway, things I don't see anymore: subway tokens people using payphones people holding doors for others (very rare)
