I bought Madden 2010 and I have to say I really like it. For the first time since Madden 2004/2005 I feel that the franchise has taken a huge step froward. They fixed a lot of the issues in the Madden series and mixed in some 2K football elements. I feel for the first time on the 360/PS3 they have a good Madden game.

Big improvements

Game play sliders- Let you adjust the games speed and computer levels for things like run defense and pass offense.

O-Line forms an actual pocket around the QB

Offense lines actually matter- Good O-lines can run the ball well and bad ones can't.

New Ratings system- More well rounded rating system were players in the 70's are average and players in the 80's are good/solid. Players in the 90's are pro bowlers/All pros.

Better Presentation- 2K like cut scenes and TV like presentation. As well as a half time show (2K5 football still has a better presentation but Madden is getting closer)

Pro Tak system- 2-9 man gang tackles as well as better more fluid animations and better response to momentum.

Online Franchise- Good feature (Lets get a Two Bills Drive League going)

Things that need to be fixed

Better Half Time show- Audio over highlights and more presentational touches (2K had audio over half time highlights)

Better Camera Angles for Online Co-op- The Camera just plain sucks needs to be fixed and could be a great feature if fixed.

Better Commentary- The commentary is God aweful bring back Al Michaels and John Madden.

More in game graphics- The presentation is done well but I would like to add in things seen in TV broad casts like in 2K5 when they would bring up the chart that shows where the QB's are throwing to on the field.

Holding penalties on PAT's and field goals- Need to patch this its really too often and annoying.

Overall I like the game and feel that the things that need to be fixed are small (Except for on-line Co-Op camera). I think any football game fan will like this game even 2K fan boys will at least notice the effort that went into this years game. Anyone else buy the game or play it what are your impressions.

Meh, staying away from it till Madden 2020, spend way too many $$$ on mediocre improvements year after year.

Rent it I think the improvements (Which I agree are long over due) are enough to warrant a look at. I understand what you are getting at I usually buy Madden every other year (Last one I bough was 2008) so I get the whole don't want to spend 60 bucks on a glorified roster update.

But yeah they put in a lot of effort in this years game so I recommend giving it a look even if you don't want to buy it.

Bought it through that SI deal that was listed the other day so I still have some time to wait. How's the franchise mode offseason? did they finally improve that?

Yeah I was going to do that but I didn't want to wait 6-8 weeks so I bought it with my buddies discount at the store he works at so I got it for 54 dollars after tax which isn't a bad deal. I didn't do the off-season yet so I will have to get back to you on that.

I heard from a friend that the draft is much better but I will believe it when I see it.

I played too games on 360 with my buddy last night, the game looks cool but it's near impossible to play offense. every time you try and run it generally gets gobbled up quickly and you have no time to throw the ball since the o-lines are so much more important.

So you were using the Bills?

I think so. You go through the same front office mode first (coaches/stadium stuff). One improvement is how coaches affect your team. For example, Jauron makes all players on the team have a -5 awa.

Then you go to the main offseason, first retirements and resignings (they did make contracts equivalent to reality finally). Then there is a free agency period which is about the same but players are much more picky with who they sign with and some players refuse to sign with some teams period. Then comes the draft which is a millions times better. The process is the same, but they handmade each player in each draft class (not random). It just feels better. Also, player ratings progress much better now.

Shawn Nelson has been on fire! The O line is terrible but I am hoping the Wood and Levitre will be better in season 2.

They do. Levitre progresses a little better than Wood, but they both become 2 really solid players on our whole team.

OT: The highest overall player I drafted in the game was a safety I drafted in the 7th round. He was an 83 overall, and the guy I picked in the first round was only a 76 overall. Pretty cool, IMO.

Cool. I used to love the offseason stuff until I got the ps3 and they kinda messed it all up. If its more like the PS2 versions I'm a happy camper. Which reminds me I need to get NCAA for some real draft classes

How can you be on season 2 already? Do you just sim through your franchise? That's cool.

Would love to hear more reviews, including offline franchise mode.

And if anyone knows how to unlock it for Wii. Also, side note, does anyone else "ask Madden" for help when calling plays? I'll sometimes do this, especially on defense, and one of his soundbytes is "A smart coach would call this!" I inevitably think, yeah, but what would jauron do (wwjd)?

Good to hear that you can get steals in the later rounds on this one. The last three years the guys in the later rounds ALWAYS stunk, ALWAYS. This makes it more realistic.

Wood and Levitre both improve after a couple of seasons, playing a few games

and simulated the remaining. Madden moved Wood to center after 2 seasons and

both are in the mid 80's.

Maybin is a stud! He has a rating of 88 after 3 seasons. His speed off the

corner is crazy fast and ended up having 16 sacks in his 2nd season.

Graphics are much improved along with the way the players moves.

Trent ended up at an 81 after 2 seasons, dropping a point or 2.

Think the game is a vast improvement over the first Madden for 360 a few years ago,

and a big improvement over last year. Graphics and menu are much improved. Still

a few bugs such as no way to not sign your own free agent (that I've seen). You can

sign the ones you want yourself, but eventually the game sims signing the remaining

players anyway.

It's just a game, I know, but I enjoy it anyway.

I did this deal last week. I called SI today and they said all games would be shipped between today, tomorrow, and Monday. The rep told me on the phone that everyone who has already ordered will receive it no later than 10 days after the release date. She said that most people will have it by the middle of next week! Not bad for deal like that!
