Marv Levy Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Vegas Orleans Casino had them pegged for 7.5 wins Under/Over for the season. 40 to 1 to win the SuperBowl. I looked last weekend. As much as I'm worried about the O Line, their Defense looked like crap and Tennessee moved the ball at will. They will be lucky as hell to get 8 wins this season.
mrags Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 For what its worth and Im not sure I would believe me. Hell, I dont know if I believe me. But I met a guy at the HOF while I was walking around in the museum. He claimed to be a close friend of DJ's. Said he was his roomate or something along those lines in college or something. Anyway, he seemed to think that if DJ didnt make the playoffs he thought he would be gone. He didnt say if DJ would admit to that or not. I was hoping he would give some more inside information like if he didnt make the post season he was for sure gone. But we will see. Like I said, Im not sure if i believe me either. The guy seemed legit and seemed to talk of a few things that I believe could be inside information. He gave me a few names of guys that he claimed would get cut and hinted towards inside information. Im not going to say now because I dont want to throw rumors out there. Ill let you all know if he was right or completely full of it.

DJ's an older man, been in the football biz for a long, long time. He's made a good amount of money through the years. Some folks were surprised that a 73 year-old man - John Madden, hung it up. Or wonder why, that at age 65, Marty Shottenheimer might not want to go back and try to coach some wise-*ss 23 year-old multimillionaires that are mostly concerned with partying, driving around in goofy cars with hilarious wheels, and getting their knobs licked.
djcalvin79 Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Actually Vick signed a 2 yr deal with the Eagles. It's a 1-yr with an option for another year.
djcalvin79 Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 my biggest fear is a 4-12 season.. which we might well end up at

I don't care how old I get, that will always be a high priority for me. And I think MS would coach if offered a job in a second. No one's been offering though.
The Avenger Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 DJ lost 8 of his last 10 games. He was 0-6 in the division. In 3 of the last 10 games the Bills didn't find the endzone. If that doesn't get you fired I don't know what does, so I'm having trouble thinking Jauron gets the boot for going 7-9 or missing the playoffs again - seems like the standard for being retained is awfully low....
billsfan89 Posted August 14, 2009 Author Posted August 14, 2009 my biggest fear is a 4-12 season.. which we might well end up at At least than we get rid of DJ and revamp the team to be more conducive towards success.
Mr. WEO Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 No way making the playoffs are the contigency for keeping DJ beyond this year. After the way the Bills bombed last year, why would Ralph or the FO expect DJ to suddenly coach us to the playoffs? Does anybody really think that, say, if they start off 2-6 and finish 6-2 that Ralph would THEN d/c DJ and eat the last 2 years of his contract? Or if they finish 9-7 and out of the playoffs? Anybody?
spartacus Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 My greatest fear for the upcoming season is a 7-9 outcome with Jauron coming back for next year. Not only are the Bills their usual mediocrity but DJ and Co comes back. If they go 8-8 or 9-7 at least the team has shown improvement and likely Trent will have developed into something special to put up a winning or .500 season. Trent could be his usual flashes of good but overall his bad showings make him a mediocre QB. Than we with that performance form Trent could go 7-9 (Lets say the Jets and Fins have down years) and still not be a good team. Than we go 7-9 and they bring Jauron back under the guise of well the schedule was much harder and we still went 7-9 (I don't know how it could make sense but I could see them actually saying that). If the Bills go 6-10 or worse I don't see anyway they bring DJ back. In fact if they go 6-10 or worse they could actually spend big on a coach in order regenerate interest in the team. I would hate to have to put up with mediocrity and be rewarded with more mediocrity. If we suck this year we hit the reset button and move on. If we do well than well we have a good year. Its a big fear of mine that we go 7-9 and DJ is back. no matter the record, DICK is back Ralph will not eat 2 years of his contract even more absurd is thinking Ralph will spend big bucks for a replacement Brandon will bring back the fans by re-signing TO for 1 one more year -or some other high profile, low impact move designed to sell tickets. Bills fans will buy more anything

We've seen stranger things happen before. Levy originally was going to retain Mularkey after a 5-11 season and there wasn't much gruff from the inner-circle then. RW is 91, and while he looks good for his age, the franchise depends on him. They're no about to make long term commitments to a new HC and GM. Still, I can't forget hearing that DJ was retained and the next moment Mike Shanahan was fired.
Max997 Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 No playoffs = goodbye to Dick. wouldnt be so sure of that....Ralph decided to keep DJ instead of paying him for 3 years so what makes you think he wont keep him again instead of paying him for 2? we all thought it was playoffs or bust last year and how did that turn out? fans need to get used to the idea of DJ being head coach of the Bills next year as well because unless they are flat out awful he isnt getting fired
jester43 Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 At least than we get rid of DJ and revamp the team to be more conducive towards success. yeah, cause ralph has proven after each of our previous train wrecks that he knows how to hire the right people to turn things around. say it with me: "ralph wilson, hall-of-famer" what a joke.

Not saying the next coach to replace DJ will be a success but that it would be a change that COULD be for the better. Say what you will but he got rid of TD after 4 or 5 seasons so its not like we are the Lions and we keep terrible GMs around for 9 years and 6 years too long. If DJ is gone it doesn't guarantee success but it gives the possibility of success all you can ask for is a chance.
Sisyphean Bills Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 yeah, cause ralph has proven after each of our previous train wrecks that he knows how to hire the right people to turn things around. say it with me: "ralph wilson, hall-of-famer" what a joke. Ralph getting in the Hall seemed to have a lot more to do with his efforts to bring about the AFL, keep the AFL alive, the eventual merger, and helping to grow the sport's general popularity. I don't recall anyone remarking about his consistent ability to orchestrate, as President of the Bills, championship winners through masterful domination of the NFL on the football field.
DCbillsfan Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 my biggest fear is a 4-12 season.. which we might well end up at I hope it is not that bad but I'm afraid it won't be any better than 6 - 10. After what happened last year, I'm not sure what it takes to get DJ fired. The O-line is going to take awhile for it to click and the D-line needs an infusion of talent.
Major Mud Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 Wow , no matter what Ralph does its never enough for most people on here. He is a Hall-of-famer, and he deserves to be there. Just because he doesnt sign the guy you want or hire the coach your enamored with he is a loser? Hey if you dont respect him for what he has done for this team and this city, then follow another team!...maybe you should be Redskin fans, Snyder makes all the moves that makes his fans happy, oh wait they suck too!....Its easy to sit on the web and post your comments while your 40 something years old and still living with your parents. Sports are ENTERTAINMENT, its not a way of life. So just relax, enjoy the Bills while they are still here and if you find it too hard to cope. Pick up a book, Read, meet a women, quit the boyscouts, and leave Mommy and Daddys house. Most of you take this stuff way too seriously and the comments i read remind me of the grammar school playground. You should be grateful that as an owner he chose the wasteland that is Buffalo to put his team, where would most of you be without them?....So take the noose off your neck and chill, its august 14th for christs sake. If this upcoming season is too much for you to handle....do us all a favor and take a nice long swim at lets say...Niagara Falls?......I love the city of Buffalo, the people and the Bills, however i do have a life outside the NFL season, and some of you should as well!.....P.S. the real fans who get it ROCK!
sharper802 Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 No playoffs = goodbye to Dick. Great then we can hire Marvin Lewis!!!! lol

Are the Sabres still in Buffalo? Oh thats right Golisano is a tightwad too, oh wrong message board.
Sisyphean Bills Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 Are the Sabres still in Buffalo? Oh thats right Golisano is a tightwad too, oh wrong message board. Not to mention that Buffalo was the 14th largest city in the country and geographically very close to the heart of football fan interest when the Bills were put here.
