A post in another thread, reminded me of this:

War ___________

Especially red neck hicks running around screaming "War Damn Eagle". Sounds like a bunch of uneducated buffoons who support a second rate collegiate athletic team.

Anything dealing with "nasty"

"Player X is nasty ..."

"We need to get nasty up front ..."

"Our defense is going to be so sick and nasty ..."

"If we got more players like him, our line would be mean and nasty ..."

So you probably don't listen to the Jim Rome show. Every called to the show end his "take" with "War ______" meaning he approves of whatever he just "warred."

Not a cliche, but if I end up ever killing someone, it's probably because they keep saying, "However comma".

Speaking of punctuation and not necessarily a cliche....

People that make the quotes gesture :wallbash:

It was funny when Dr Evil does it. When somebody does it in real life they just look like a douchebag

Something else?

Seriously, the are times when "It is what it is" actually makes a bit of sense. I suspect it was developed and popularized in corporate meetings where people were trying very hard to make a square peg fit perfectly into a round hole. Sometimes they have to be reminded of the basics.

But it is used far more often than is appropriate.

OK I am bored and dragged up a old thread. But was that a intentional play or a intistintive Cliché use?

The Top 5 in 97 Rock's "Rock and Roll 500." :worthy:

Having not been a WNY resident for 17 years, is it still the same?

Is it (in no particular order)

Free Bird

Stairway to Heaven

Hotel California

Something by Aerosmith

You Shook Me All Night Long

If it is... yep same as in 1992.

Missed this when it was originally posted.

Maybe I do not listen to the Jim Rome show.

Then again, maybe I do, and even though it has nothing to do with the original intent of "War ___", I still could not resist taking a "shot" at the fan base of a hated collegiate rival.
