tbonehawaii Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 I don't think the line was that bad against a good d line. livitree was horrible. get lower for god's sake? maybe butler to guard bell to right tackle and Levitree to the bench?
bills1960 Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Agreed, Wood looked awesome and the rest (besides Levitre) were respectable. Even Bell looked ok too.

Jesus H, give the kid a break. First live action of his career and you got him going to the bench already. Let's see how he rebounds. That's the true measure here. He's got a lot of camp and pre-season left so there's lots of time for improvement. This game just may have served him very well. GO BILLS!!!

thebug Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Maybe it's a good thing they have 5 preseason games this year? Can we have 10?

We'll see. I think it's worth considering if he doesn't show some improvement. Seth McKinney might be a good replacement for Levitre on a short-term basis if you figure that eventually, our line will be Walker-Levitre-Hang-Wood-Butler.
ThereIsNoDog Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Yep, give Levitre another game at least before replacing him with Butler. Keep the rest of the line the way it is.

I agree that we should give him a break since it's is first game, the only thing that worries me is that he looked over powered most of the time

Butler might not be taking anyone's position. Back injuries are serious and especially for a guy who has to block. I hope this doesn't linger all year, but I have a feeling it's going to and it will keep him off the field.
Numark Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Can we have 10? Can we have a "Ignore User's Post" button?
Fewell733 Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 he might not be strong enough yet but it's dumb to jump to conclusions after one series with the starters in the preseason. worst case scenario you put Chambers in there at LG.

PromoTheRobot Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 I will give credit to Levitre that he didn't get knocked over. he stayed on his feet while getting driven back. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he just needs to find his balance point or get in a lower set. PTR

Butler, not Chambers. Again only if Levitre doesn't show improvement by the 2nd game.

PTR ....still there's no denying that he appeared under sized and was driven backwards multiple times. First action or not, that type of play won't cut it. Weapons, yeah, but the o-line needs major improvement before the bell rings, or all the weapons in the world won't help, espcially Viagra or Levitre, or whatever......
Fewell733 Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Butler, not Chambers. Again only if Levitre doesn't show improvement by the 2nd game. why change two positions when you can change one by just inserting Chambers and leaving Butler at right tackle?

This obviously shows that the kid is a bust, further proving Dick Jauron's ineptitude as a coach and Russ Brandon's incompetence as a GM. Take down Ralph Wilson's HOF bust and sell the team to Toronto, LA, or wherever. I mean, obviously Levitre isn't a rookie playing for the first time against NFL level competition in something that resembles a real game. Oh wait...
thebug Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Can we have a "Ignore User's Post" button? Yes you can.
Chilly Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 why change two positions when you can change one by just inserting Chambers and leaving Butler at right tackle? Because Bell is going to win the LT job by the time camp ends.
BuffOrange Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 I like Collinsworth but it is incredible how much people are influenced by announcers without them even knowing it. Yah he got abused on the int play. You would neither care or notice if Edwards sidestepped or just didn't throw a terrible ball into double coverage. I thought live that the RT got beat and was holding on that play but the tv guys didn't zoom in on that.
