Blaise321 Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 First take the following precautions: Remove anything that might produce a spark. Remove all oxidizing agents from at least a twenty foot radius. Slowly drink at least 500 mls of olive oil, and gargle it on the way down to produce a protective coating over the mucosa. Wear swimmers goggles, and assure tight fit. Write a note to loved ones (optional). The recipe: Measure out from between 250 - 500 mls of Everclear, depending on the extent of the loss. Slowly add between 2-3 drops of aviation fuel, depending on personal taste. Swirl very gently. That's it, except sit down on the floor before drinking. [i have handles bolted to the floor, so that I don't spin off]. Thanks. I'll set up a "kit" before the games start (to save time). If this doesn't cure the after a loss depression then I guess I will just have to be doomed to suffer. Ha!
Nick the Greek Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 sit and stew in my office at work for a few days and B word to co-workers
DrFishfinder Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Honestly.....and I don't say this to keep on dumping on DJ.....I really don't....... I keep reminding myself that: If you always do what you always did you always get what you always got. I really don't expect, especially after last season's sucker-punch of a slide, a Dick Jauron-coached team to be anything other than what his career record stands as: 7-9. I'm thrilled when they win. Hell, I'll take a 2-14 season if they beat My Yami twice.
Wagon Circler Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 I try to prepare in advance by expecting them to lose. Then, it doesn't hurt quite as bad. But once the game starts I'm still yelling and throwing things at the TV. The low point last year was the Jet game. At the two minute warning, I actually started to believe they could win. Just keep running the ball. Man, did I lose it! I think my family got scared ( Ihave heart issues. The Bills don't help that.)
ChasBB Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 I remind myself that my success has nothing to do with their success and that this is only a game. I remind myself that each-and-every player on the team collects a nice fat paycheck, win-or-lose. I remind myself that *most* players view this as a business. We sure do get attached and feel the pain of a loss, but in the grand scheme of things, NFL football has little relevance in life. It's just a nice diversion -- something to enjoy and discuss with family and friends. However, for the City of Buffalo, I really hope they win an NFL Championship!
BillnutinHouston Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Another good thread topic would be, how does your SPOUSE cope with your coping? I am sure that over the years the Bills have tested many marriages...
jjsiepierski34 Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Another good thread topic would be, how does your SPOUSE cope with your coping? I am sure that over the years the Bills have tested many marriages... You're on to something here. The Bills certainly DID NOT break up my marraige, but me going to the "Bills Bar" (Delilah's) here in Chicago every weekend certainly did not help our issues....considering that me going was not even up for debate... Tragedy: my ex wife was/is from Buffalo! You'd think I'd get a free pass...? That was 4 years ago...now, my girl is "off the boat" from Europe and she thinks Football is actually Soccer and she thinks we're all nuts....in a good way. Gives me no gump whatsoever...Encourages me to follow my heart and do what makes me happy regarding the Bills.... Isn't this story ironic? Bills for liiiiife.
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 The all too frequent loses drive me nuts, and nearly ruin my Sundays. I've got a dry wall hanger on retainer. Unfortunately, the majority of my walls are exposed masonry. I cannot listen to the audio portion of telecasts, because the announcers seem to deliberately rub salt into the wounds. I cannot watch on DVR, because somehow I need to suffer in real time. Ultimately, my redoubt is an Everclear and aviation fuel "martini"... I was like this. But with all the losing of late, I started "managing my emotions" in the last few years. Even during a game if there's a big play, I tend not to get too excited in the heat of the moment for fear that I'll see a flag come in. A few years ago I also decided that if the Bills win, I'd do a mile on my treadmill, but if they lose, I'd do 3 miles. You would think that I'd be in great shape, huh?
Billistic Posted August 9, 2009 Author Posted August 9, 2009 Another good thread topic would be, how does your SPOUSE cope with your coping? I am sure that over the years the Bills have tested many marriages... My wife simply goes shopping for clothes and shoes, when I watch the games. It's kind of like our private economic stimulus package: She spends, and later I hire tradesmen to remodel our residence in order to enlarge her closets. win-win-win (and sometimes the Bills also win).
generaLee83 Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Dealing with losses early in the season is entirely different from dealing with them later in the season. Early on there's a greater sense of denial, more finger pointing at referees, blaming 2nd string players etc. I lived in complete denial through week 7 last year and thought that Dick Jauron had proved me wrong. I ate my words for the duration beginnign a week later when it became quite apparent that Jauron couldn't coach a tree to sit still. When the Bills tank a game later in the season when you've lost all hope it's no big deal at all, it's business as usual.

The old "self talk" works for me too, I honestly think that I get more upset than any of the players do, after all I don't have Dick Jauron in my house to sugar coat everything and give me a handd job before I go to bed.
Billistic Posted August 9, 2009 Author Posted August 9, 2009 ... after all I don't have Dick Jauron in my house to sugar coat everything and give me a handd job before I go to bed. Maybe when he gets fired he could start a Bills fan escort service kind of thing. I'm starting a phone service to talk down irate or despondent Bills fans: 1-900-ITS-OK-4U. Operators are standing by...only $10 per minute, and no time limit.

RyanC883 Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Living in Pittsburgh I spend the next week in envy of the Steelers and how much better that team is run than the Bills.
JPicc2114 Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 haha.. I also agree not to DVR. I like my suffering in real time also.
BillsFan68 Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Well, it certainly is frustrating. Something I learned during the Super years. I vent my anger on a paper grocery bag. I rip it to shreds. It's loud and destructive. But nothing is broken of value. Very satisfying!!http://www.stadiumwall.com/style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif
Billistic Posted August 11, 2009 Author Posted August 11, 2009 i just have tons of crazy sex Of course...but this was supposed to be about above-and-beyond the normal routine.
