Coach55 Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 QB (3) - Edwards (S), Fitzpatrick, Hamden RB (3) - Lynch (S), Jackson, Rhodes, Omon during Lynch's suspension then to practice squad FB (1) - McIntyre WR (6) - Evans (S), Owens (S), Reed (S), Parrish, Johnson, Jenkins (Hardy will remain on PUP) TE (3) - Shouman (S), Fine, Nelson OT (4) - Walker (S), Butler (S), Bell, Chambers OG (3) - Wood (S), Levitre (S), McKinney C (2) - Hangartner (S), Rodd K (1) - Lindell P (1) - Moorman LS (1) - Neill DT (4) - Stroud (S), Williams (S), McCargo, Johnson DE (4) - Shobel (S), Kelsay (S), Maybin, Denney OLB (4) - Mitchell (S), Ellison (S), Harris, Bowen MLB (2) - Posluszny (S), Thomas CB (5) - McGee (S), McKelvin (S), Youboty (N), Florence, Corner (Lankster to practice squad) S (6) - Whitner (S), Scott (S), Byrd, Simpson, Wilson, Wendling This is my current thoughts, however, 11 DB's may be one too many. They may add a 7th LB for ST in exchange for Wendling or Simpson. Also, they may only take 8 OL and cut either McKinney or Rodd (again for another LB on ST). The other 2 big question marks are what happens when Hardy comes off the PUP (if at all) and will Chris Ellis dethrone one of the heads of the Kelsay/Denney monster (not likely). I can't forsee too many surprises this camp.
Chandler#81 Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 I suspect -at this very early time- you're pretty close. I'd change Lankster in for Wendling gone, Ellis in and Simpson on the bubble and Hardy is a BIG ?. As for surprizes, I think we'll start 4-5 rookies. That, IMO, is a surprize.
Tsaikotic Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Nice...don't know much about Rodd, but in my 53 man attempt I have McKinny at C as backup..Thought I read somewhere he played C also...If I'm wrong I'll have to re-do my roster..I have the 2 new rookies slated as DB...This "DB" title has me a bit confused though...I originally thought DB was just a generic title for anyone who plays secondary...But the Bills roster site shows both CB and S with a few players titled as DB...so if anyone could clear that up it would be much appreciated here is my 53 man: QB(3) - Trent Edwards, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Gibran Hamdan RB(3) - Marshawn Lynch, Fred Jackson, Dominic Rhodes, Bruce Hall (till Lynch returns) FB(1) - Corey McIntyre TE(4) - Derek Schouman, Derek Fine, Shawn Nelson, Jonathan Stupar WR(5) - Lee Evans, Terrell Owens, Josh Reed, Steve Johnson, Roscoe Parrish OG(3) - Eric Wood, Adam Levitre, Kirk Cambers, (Seth McKinney) OT(3) - Langston Walker, Brad Butler, Demetrius Bell, (Kirk Chambers), (Adam Levitre) OC(2) - Geoff Hangartner, Seth McKinney, (Eric Wood) Offense = 24 DE(5) - Aaron Schobel, Aaron Maybin, Ryan Denney, Chris Kelsay, Chris Ellis, (Spencer Johnson) DT(4) - Marcus Stroud, Kyle Williams, Spencer Johnson, John McCargo OLB(4) - Kawika Mitchell, Keith Ellison, Nic Harris, Alvin Bowen, (Pat Thomas) MLB(2) - Paul Pozluszny, Pat Thomas CB(4) - Terrence McGee, Leodis McKelvin, Reggie Corner, Ashton Youboty SS(1) - Bryan Scott, (Donte Whitner), (Nic Harris) FS(4) - Donte Whitner, Jairus Byrd, Ko Simpson, George Wilson DB(2) - Ellis Lankster, Cary Harris Defense = 26 K/PK(1) - Rian Lindell P(1) - Brian Moorman LS(1) - Ryan Neill ST = 3

I find it hard to see C. Harris making the roster given that he is acting like a wallflower in camp (practice squad maybe). I also don't think they will carry 4 TE's as April will want the 6th WR for Special Teams.
ans4e64 Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 On of those safeties are going to get cut. They're not keeping 6 safeties for 2 spots. You're cutting DE Chris Ellis after one year? Crazy? I really want to believe that, based on his play, McKinney would not make the roster. He looks terrible thus far IMO. However, I remain undecided because we have two rookies starting, and does that mean the Bills want some sort of veteran there as insurance and a mentor? Can't decide. But IMO, Philip and Rodd are better players.

Like this one best but Hamdan beats out Baker, Sanborn beats out Neil and Jenkins makes this team with initially Hardy on PUP and after that I'm not sure. They love him on special teams though.
inkman Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 As for surprizes, I think we'll start 4-5 rookies. That, IMO, is a surprize. Uh...Wood, Levitre, ???? Maybin? - The holdout is killing him. He'll get PT, but no way he starts. Byrd? - The injury is a problem. If he can get in soon, maybe he starts but it's not looking good. Nelson? - Nothing I've heard in camp has led me to believe he's going to start. The only way I see 5 rookies starting is if there are major injuries to some vets.
Coach55 Posted August 5, 2009 Author Posted August 5, 2009 Practice Squad: Stupar Rodd McGhee Hawthorne Hall (after lynch returns) Buggs Palmer Spann Name Cuts: Hamdan, Omon, Simpson, Jonathan Scott, and I hate to keep Copeland Bryan off the team, but numbers... Question - can Hall be put on the practice squad after making the 53 man roster?

He will make the team.
Coach55 Posted August 5, 2009 Author Posted August 5, 2009 Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems that about 95% of the roster is set already with just some players on the fringe with their jobs in jeopardy (Neill, Wendling, Simpson, Jenkins), most of which will be decided by who April wants to carry for ST.

I think the coaching staff WANTS him to start, and is giving him every chance. Obviously, with Maybin not in, it doesn't bode well. But picking him that early addressed the biggest glaring need from last year. How can we not start our first pick? I also believe the coaching staff plans on Byrd being a starter and solidify the backfield -at some time this year.
ans4e64 Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Question - can Hall be put on the practice squad after making the 53 man roster? Hmm.. good question. Not totally sure, but I think the practice squad eligibility is determined by either years in the league or games played in or active for.
Cereal Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 You're cutting DE Chris Ellis after one year? Crazy? Same with Hardy? I understand he may not be in many people's top 5, but seriously, throwing him to the curb after one season doesn't sound great to me.
ans4e64 Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Same with Hardy? I understand he may not be in many people's top 5, but seriously, throwing him to the curb after one season doesn't sound great to me. I think he said he's putting him on the PUP list, not cutting him.
NY Nole Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 LS Neil will make the team. Being a Seminoles fan, I like Sanborn but he isn't going to make it. Neil is a very accurate LS and has the chemistry w/ Moorman that Sanborn does not.

Fixxxer Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Other thing, I don't know how the coaches feel about the FB position. But I think McIntyre could be expendable if they feel other guys would offer depth on crowded positions. Schouman could play HB doing some in blocking in some packages.
Tsaikotic Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Same with Hardy? I understand he may not be in many people's top 5, but seriously, throwing him to the curb after one season doesn't sound great to me. not sure if your comment refers to my post or the original poster, but I left Hardy off only cuz of the PUP list...I didn't add any PUP players, sorry my bad...
SuperKillerRobots Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 I can't understand why everyone thinks McIntyre makes the team! Has he done anything in camp? Does the offense even use the fullback anymore? Not to mention, wasn't this guy's specialty on ST was as the "wedge buster", if I remember correctly and we certainly don't need that anymore. John wendling will make the team because the new ST rules dictate having more mobile blockers, which he certainly is. Chris Ellis will make it because we need DE help in anyway we can get it. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Corto make the team as the 7th LB/Josh Stamer memorial spot.
