rockpile Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Here are my very few X's and O's: Drew looked very sharp on the few plays I saw. Travis Brown looked ready to be a solid #2 and step into #1 if necessary. Greg Zolman looked prepared to be the #3 quarterback. He got a lot of reps with handoffs and quick dump passes to TEs and RBs. After all, #3 only has to know the playbook, be familiar with the team and be ready if there's a disaster. I would not do SQUAT to bring in another QB if I was the Bills. That said, I barely saw 15 minutes of practice, as I had three generations of Rockpiles with me today (Grandpa, two daughters, four grandkids) from age 51 to 10 months. We spent most of our time playing in the Bills experience, buying merchandise and getting autographs. I smiled warmly as 18 year old daughter Kalene had her hat on, signed by Phil Hanson almost a decade ago, and 8 year old granddaughter Leigha had her brand new hat signed today by Evans and several other players. There must have been 25-30 players signing autographs today. It was sunny, very warm and a blast. I felt good bringing up new generations of Bills fans and showing them WHY "Papa" was a Bills fan. Got to speak to some of the players a bit. Wished them luck with the road trip and their careers. All in all a very spendid morning.
Mark VI Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Any bargain shopping inside the Bills store ? They usually slash everything the last day.
#89 Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Not like it use to be. When it was Wegmans they didn't want to stock it. That's how I had those Bills Barell portable grills to be on the raffles at the tailgates. They were like $50 marked down to $20 or 25

Xs & Os are fine, but we get plenty of those. Memories that last a lifetime...priceless.
Mike32282 Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Good post. I was so pissed that I slept thru it. Anyways...who were the 25 or so players that signed? Any big names? Or just the rookies? How long did they sign for?
Just Jack Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Good post. I was so pissed that I slept thru it. 7978 You're gonna catch hell for stating that, aren't you?
Mike32282 Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 You're gonna catch hell for stating that, aren't you? 8022 That's why I'm not saying it on BZ. They will eat me alive for it.
Just Jack Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 But some of them do come over here from time to time. Hmmm.... maybe a little bribe is in order?
Mike32282 Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 But some of them do come over here from time to time. Hmmm.... maybe a little bribe is in order? 8034 Uh oh. Did I say I slept thru it? I meant that I had a Doctor's appointment. Yeah, that sounds better.
Just Jack Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Uh oh. Did I say I slept thru it? I meant that I had a Doctor's appointment. Yeah, that sounds better. 8045 Proctologist?

Memories that last a lifetime...priceless. 7975 I agree...I went to camp the last 2 years, but was unable to go this time around. I'll never forget taking my son & his friends, we waited to meet Drew and then a typhoon rolled in and washed us out, closing camp. But then last year the kids got to see him and have their jerseys signed... I got to meet him and then my camera quit lots of laughs and the look on those kids faces after finally meeting him was indeed "priceless"
Rubes Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 I think I'll tell. 8283 It figures! Hasn't he done enough for us poor saps here who can't make it to camp?
Mike32282 Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 It figures! Hasn't he done enough for us poor saps here who can't make it to camp? 8362 EXACTLY!

We were by the end zone bleachers, so I missed a lot of the players. As Cindy said, VI - the deals were simple markdowns, but each grandkid got a souvenir and some autographs. I told them how my Dad used to take me to the practices when I was their age and I played on the dirt piles while he watched camp. We went to Bill Gray's for lunch - they are not ready for garbage plates! With the help of a roster and my memory: 54 Jon Dorenbos 9 Rian Lindel 24 Terrence McGee 77 Lauvale Lape - the only player I recognized w/out a numbered jersey 64 Ben Sobieski 83 Lee Evans 87 Tim Euhus 70 Dylan McFarland 41 Luke Lawton - spoke with him a bit - he is a long shot but a very nice guy I think there are no errors - I know there are omissions. All the players were in good spirits that I saw. I made 8 camp days last year, but just 2 this year when I actually could watch practice. A good prelude to the fall.

Or TKO, or Fletcher. It was a very tough TC for autographs. As far as the practice today...did they do the usual rookie hazing thing? Or does Mularkey not do that funny relay thingy?
