Jim in Anchorage Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Please, you're such an amateur. Everybody knows if it's REALLY good corn, you don't need to even eat it. I just smell it, take a small bite, hold it in my mouth for a second, then spit it on the floor.
Jim in Anchorage Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Sometimes it looks like you could, even when I eat it.
BuffaloBill Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Why the water??? And I am not being sarcastic..is it to get it to steam?? I have never done that http://www.wyeriverseasonings.com/index.ph...is8bl2mqr8p3ep0 ,bettern Old Bay) and butter about 30% of the time. Yes you are essentially steaming it by this method - I also like to pull the husks off and then throw it back on the grill as it will then carmalize some of the corn. Very tasty stuff indeed. BTW Hard to pull husks this way as the corn is very hot - steam will burn you so I suggest a pair of oven mits to protect your hands.
bills44 Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Now THAT sounds really good... I might try that next time! Oh, it is.
The Dean Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Sometimes it looks like you could, even when I eat it. ...and that's the reason I refuse to eat Baby Corn. Corn's apparent ability to regenerate in the human body scares the crap out of me (pun is what it is). I can deal with the individual kernels growing back. But, the idea of those mini-cobs coming out of my... Well, you get the picture.
GoodBye Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 I'm with you Fez. I soak the corn in water for about an hour, then cook it on the grill still in it's husk. Cut all the corn off the cob with a knife and sprinkle a little lemon juice on it.Flame away. I eat it the same way but have not tried lemon. Will give it a try!
The Dean Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 And, for the record, I think I should note: I am love corn.

Booster4324 Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 And, for the record, I think I should note: I want to be Lana's love corn. Fixed
Steely Dan Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Fixed That's why he's afraid of baby corn. It's a comparison thing.
Beerball Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 That's why he's afraid of baby corn. It's a comparison thing. Anyone who eats those baby ears should be jailed.
The Dean Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Anyone who eats those baby ears should be jailed. Worse than eating lamb, and almost as bad as eating baby lettuce.
Fezmid Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Ended up not eating corn tonight afterall --- so the lemon/pepper experiment will be waiting until Wednesday.
Steely Dan Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Anyone who eats those baby ears should be jailed. Just because it happened to you doesn't mean everybody who does it bad. Worse than eating lamb, and almost as bad as eating baby lettuce. What about veal and human babies?
HelloNewman Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 How do I eat corn on the cob? With my bare feet...haha
The Dean Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 What about veal and human babies? I actually meant veal, but typed lamb. Maybe because I had lamb vindaloo the other day. I always "baaa" a little when I eat lamb, just for effect.
John from Riverside Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 - First a light coat of butter - Then roll on some mayonase - After that the parmsien cheese should stick fairly well - chili powder after that if you want
