aussiew
With apologies to our French Bills fans..... The train was quite crowded, and a U. S. Marine walked the entire length looking for a seat, but the only seat 'available' was taken by a well dressed, middle-aged, French woman's poodle. The war-weary Marine asked, 'Ma'am, may I have that seat?' The French woman just sniffed and said to no one in particular 'Americans are so rude. My little Fifi is using that seat.' The Marine walked the entire train again, but the only seat left was under that dog. 'Please, ma'am. May I sit down? I'm very tired.' She snorted, 'Not only are you Americans rude, you are also arrogant!' This time the Marine didn' t say a word; he just picked up the dog, tossed it out of the train window, and sat down. The woman shrieked, 'Someone must defend my honor! This American should be put in his place!' An English gentleman sitting nearby spoke up, 'Sir, you Americans seem to have a penchant for doing the wrong thing. You hold the fork in the wrong hand. You drive your cars on the wrong side of the road. And now, sir, you seem to have thrown the wrong B word out of the window.

stuckincincy
The train was quite crowded,... If the stars were aligned, this was a Chunnel train pulling out from...Waterloo Station.

stuckincincy
You must be one ahead of me Cincy. I thought it left from Victoria station. Waterloo Station is the main link to the Chunnel. Which the French have crabbed about for quite a while. http://www.touruk.co.uk/london_stations/wa...oo_station1.htm Some wag once said that France should name their Chunnel terminus "Vichy Station"...but they were not amused. That reference mentioned Waterloo Bridge. Which reminds me of one of my favorite movies...Waterloo Bridge. It is one of the great romance movies...1940 B&W with Robt. Taylor and Vivian Leigh. The "Candlelight Waltz" (a.k.a. Farewell Waltz) scene is one of moviedom's most memorable. If you happen to see it in your tv listings, record it. You will be pleased. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0033238/ The Farewell Waltz...

stuckincincy
Hey Stuck, have you seen Gran Torino? This line just reminds me of Clint's character in that movie. Nope. But think of the wonderful life we would all have if a bunch of self-styled twerps all across the nation in the mid-60's didn't kum-by-ya amongst themselves and hatch laws decided that fences around a private property owner's lawn was unsightly. Think of it - no burned-out brown urine spots or dog crap defiling the property you work hard to maintain to be an asset to your community, no trash rolling around in the wind. Why are dog owners so disrespectful of other people's property, I ask you?
