Beerball Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Exhibit celebrates AFL's 50th Anniversary season One artifact featured that represents the single most important milestone of the league’s history is the pen that on November 8, 1966, President Lyndon Johnson used to sign Public Law 89-800 that carried the rider approving the merger of the AFL and NFL.
buffaloaggie Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Looking forward to seeing that. Thanks for the post!
SouthernMan Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Exhibit celebrates AFL's 50th Anniversary season Too bad the HOF game didn't feature the Buffalo Bills and the Denver Broncos - the only 2 AFL teams to maintain their original city and mascot names since the league's inception in 1960. On the other hand, it sort of makes sense that the only 2 original franchise owners, and holders of 4 of the 10 AFL Championships, meet in the 50th anniversary celebration. I just hate that the Oilers were moved out of Houston. From a purest point of view, the Tennessee Titans were not in the AFL, and I wish they weren't playing. I believe both teams will be wearing throwback unis, including the traditional Oiler derrick-logo helmets. A shame that Jack and Lou just missed on the chance to be part of it.
