Bolton on Daily Show

well, it was money poorly spent in the first place, so ... sure, glad you agree with me.

so, i'm guessing you'll decline your social security check once you're eligible. how good of you.

and magox, i wasn't being sarcastic. the amount of greed i've encountered using "privatized" health in this nation -- whether it's involving the drug companies or how the insurance companies have rejected claims -- well, sheesh, what else would you call it? robbery?

and i'm surprised that a health insurance-funded study found data that actually supported health insurance company's position that they're not greedy. phew, i'm convinced now.

True, which makes the withdrawal equivalent to a tax for services that will be unavailable to many. Sorta evens out the percentage of taxation though, which makes me feel no sympathy for the rich who are taxed at a higher percentage. Great point Joe....

Let me know when you're willing (or more likely able) to discuss anything beyond the sound byte level. Until then feel free to stick to your cheap hooch and intellectually lazy takes. It amuses me because of your "stature".

You mean because I'd take that to heart or because you actually think that education equals intelligence? Because I have a hard time believing that even the majority of toadstools who inhabit this board would think you're anything more than average in that department.

education doesn't equal intelligence, and i've never claimed to be a know all in anything.

i merely provide my perspective on the views and opinions i've formed in my life's experiences. i trust the same applies with you A.D. to attempt to belittle that certainly doesn't forward your point. i've not questioned your stature or intelligence, nor called anyone a toadstool.

How noble. Still haven't solved the problem of the Ponzi scheme that is Social Security yet, have you?

You mean the way the tired way you resort sloganeering, deflection, and dismissal does? Spare me.

well, it's obvious we disagree. i don't need an education for that. but why should i proceed when all you and Joe do is resort to the exact same thing you accuse me of. universal health care actually works -- really works, trust me, i've used it -- in many countries, and yet it is made out to be the sole cause of ruination here, that has the potential to suck this nation down some socialist hellhole, which is blather beyond the biblical proportion, and i exagerate only a little.

why is it, then, when i enter an actual discussion (you know, talking not sitting behind some keyboard, where we can all fly invective upon each other) on health care in this nation and what they think of the current system, no one -- and i mean no one -- i've encountered likes the status quo. and forget even liking the status quo, it is despised for being a headache-filled, rubik's cube of bureaucracy, fine print and greed.

and while there are those who argue against universal health care have certain valid points in making their arguments, too often the critiques go down the kneejerk path of death panels and "you lie" baloney. it's the scaremongers' way to shout down and raise a full-blown pandemic of fear to topple something they don't seem to want to understand or accept.

let me be clear, i'm not accusing you or Joe of doing that.

Because it is. Take a look at tax rates in Europe as opposed to here. Hell, throw in Canada, too, and you'll see why so many are so opposed to this first thread of a cradle-to-grave welfare system.

Except it doesn't really work and saying you've "used it" isn't the same thing as understanding how it works.

And if you don't think that America is being sucked down a socialist hellhole then you have almost zero understanding of what has been going on for the past half century.

Because no one (politician/business/etc) is willing to actually address the issues, which has been my point all along. Everything you just talked about can be directly attributed to government involvement in making health care better. How exactly will the United States government fix health care just by writing a check when they haven't fixed education using the same mentality?

and while there are those who argue against universal health care have certain valid points in making their arguments, too often the critiques go down the kneejerk path of death panels and "you lie" baloney. it's the scaremongers' way to shout down and raise a full-blown pandemic of fear to topple something they don't seem to want to understand or accept.

Because partisan politicians and all who follow them are morons.

it does work, and it remains odd to say that it doesn't. spending my first 37 years not having to worry about health insurance or going bankrupt because of a catastrophic illness or accident was something i never realized until i arrived here and became "accustomed" to dealing with a fifth-class health insurance system.

as for what's been going on this past half century, in my view, i saw a country celebrate Ronald Reagan for bringing down the Berlin Wall, only to spend so much time patting itself on its back that "phew" that's over, when overlooking the fact that China is on the verge of, if not in fact already, become an economic power and capable of being a military super power overnight.

not bad for a socialist nation.

You "not worrying about it" isn't anywhere near the same thing as something working, just as the 3 foot view looks much different from 30,000 feet.. I'm not so sure why that's such a difficult thing to understand.

I'm also not arguing that the American model isn't broken because it certainly is but what Washington is proposing doesn't fix a single symptom of the problem. I'm not surprised you don't get that, either.

Whoo hoo for China. It's awesome that you can exploit your population as basically slaves for the gain of the very few. Their version of socialism rules.

I would argue that China is a fascist state rather than a Socialist one. They've embraced the free market and industrialism, but NOT individual freedoms.

i've never supported what Obama's proposal was. in fact, i thought the half-arsed option was, well, half-arsed, and didn't go too far. for this to work, they need to go all the way and eliminate this public option, which seems like a wishy-wash nod to baloney.

being somewhat drunk on canadian whisky, and stuck in some suburban rochester hellhole, i've elected to take one step into the dark side for kicks after watching former U.S. ambassador John Bolton on the Daily Show this evening.

he ended his segment by suggesting that the only nation in the world that should have nukelar (sic: he was a bush administration appointee as we know) weapons is the United States.

how outrageous. the USA, USA, USA! first crowd, i'm sure would eat this up. however, to provide yet another argument as to why the arrogance of this nation knows no bounds and pisses off most every other nation on this earth, except perhaps Poland, for some strange reason, here it is: john wayne coming riding over the hill to save the day.

that time is long over, and Bolton had his role in the foolishnes with his belligerence and bravado on the international stage. and here he is once again, riding six-gun in a time when humility should prevail.

if there was any more proof that the past administration was a big wet fart on history, here we go. and i'm tired of having to deal with and clean up this mess, which i fear might be irreversible. we're doomed and the yahoo clown cowboys want to keep riding into the napalm sunset. and the only person left clapping is the blind drunk hannity and his fool cohort o'reilly, i guess, who have the balls of snakes and the forked tongues to prove it.

and i'm on a HST rant, whose rapids can't be stopped.

well, i've said enough. another round, sir.

cazart.

I'm glad someone else agrees with me, even though you have probably by now gotten blindsided by the "Reagan/Nixon b*lls to the wall" crowd and have been attacked for your grammar and spelling.

However, I fear we have now gone in a completely opposite direction just for the sake of it. We need toughness, but not Khrushchev-like arrogance or Chamberlain-like belief in trying to find rational thought in irrrational people... unfortunately, we get stuck with two extremes that only serve to ruin our foreign policy.

thanks for the support, but i fail to see how my grammar and spellingj (sic) could ever come into question when making a case against the uneducated masses.

Should be heartening to you to know you've got the backing of a drain-bamaged inhabitant of Bloodymore, Murderland.
