Have to remember that only three of the committee members (Van Miller, Larry Felser, and Milt Northrup) covered him. Even when you add Chuck Pollock and Ed Kilgore for any players from the mid-'70s forward, it's the same with anyone who played prior to the Super Bowl teams: if they're not already up there, they probably won't be. He is the most underrated player from those teams, its funny how everybody talks about the Big 4(Kelly, Thurman, Andre and Bruce) but back then he was always mentioned with them by the media. I have a bunch of old Bills games on DVD and I even remember talking to another guy on here probably a couple years ago who was saying the exact same thing- after watching some of the old games he completely forgot how awesome Bennett was. He had this one game against Philly back in 87 where he had 16 tackles, 4 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles! Thats rediculous. Bennett (Tecmo reference) is borderline, but there's already so many guys up from that era. The other ones, absolutely no way. Ruben Brown and Eric Moulds have gotta go up eventually based on numbers and accolades, but man, that's such a forgotten, meaningless era of Bills football, it's hard to imagine people really caring about those two. Major Mud Posted August 6, 2009 Share Posted August 6, 2009 Disagree with most, agree with some. IMO, Bennett is an absolute. In time -and it may take decades- I think he'll be HOF. I'm positive he would be if he'd stayed here his whole career. Hanson, as well. I still have every game the guy played for us on VHS. It doesn't take an experts' eye to see how instrumental he was -for his entire career! Van -YES! ..and my favorite of all time : Bobby Chandler - our BEST #81! I agree with Phil very underrated because he didnt have the numbers Bruce did, however, he was a man whose teammates loved to play with, he did his job, never bitched, and was always a true professional.
