zazie Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 And Pacman Jones, I'm sure Skooby would love that too. PAcman is avail, and he is a DB. I am very surprised that DJ has not gone and started rimming him yet.
Pitta Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 And Pacman Jones, I'm sure Skooby would love that too. What is the obsession with "SKOOBY"? I haven't been posting here long, but if he's as much of a pain in the ass as everyone makes him out to be, why not just ignore the bastard? I feel like 50% of the threads on this board turn into SKOOBY bashing threads or SKOOBY roasts.

Pitta Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Interesting..I'm watching Sportscenter right now and Mortensen seems to think Vick would be a perfect fit backing up Roethlisberger in Pittsburgh. Herm Edwards sees the Saints picking him up. Those are two teams that didn't come across to me as likely participants in the Vick sweepstakes.

Usually I do try to ignore him but this Vick BS got me irritated for some reason. My bad Pitta, I know it can get annoying after awhile.
zazie Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 You think he will get veteran minimum? Signing bonus? I wonder?
Pitta Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 If the Bills sign Vick, I guarantee he would get a loud cheer on opening day and a lot of attention a la TO at training camp
Turn Down For Watkins Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 If the Bills sign Vick, I guarantee he would get a loud cheer on opening day and a lot of attention a la TO at training camp Usually I would say absolutley 100% NO to Vick but with this season prob. being the most important one in awhile I am starting to come around on the idea. I'm still kinda on the fence about it tho.
Guest dog14787 Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 There might be a few posters claiming to know what Michael Vicks all about, I for one am not one of them. The African American, because of his or her heritage and turbulent history are really the only ones that can fully understand how a black man really feels. It wasn't that long ago the black man was still dealing with slavery, racial problems, being forced to endure hardships that were unspeakable and basically for the lack of a better word, treated like animals. Myself personally, I'm white and because of my heritage I'm ashamed of what we did to the black man and in my heart I'm not going to hold it against him for something I helped make him into in the first place. Pitta, why are you here? Cursing our City and our players doesn't cut it and calling our Mod a moron doesn't cut it. So if you don't respect anything about this board, the City of Buffalo or even the owner of the football team, why are you even here? My post was partly in defense of Michael Vick. Until you walk a mile in a mans shoes, you should not judge him. I could name numerous cultures with different ways and for different purposes animals are killed and some for enjoyment. To some folks it seems barbaric, to others, second nature. God knows whats in Michael Vicks heart, and he's the only one that really matters when all is said and done. Doesn't anyone find it ironic that some folks can condemn Michael Vick forever for fighting and killing dogs and meanwhile some of our favorite shows on the TV that we like to watch so much involve humans killing humans.
Passepartout Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Question is, wonder what team is going to get him?
Guest dog14787 Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Question is, wonder what team is going to get him? I just hope he's not in the AFC East so we don't have to chase him all over the football field twice a year.
Pitta Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Pitta's point is, none of us can know what is in another's head. We can't know if he is sorry for what he has done, feels remorse, etc. Neither can another Black man. Someone who shares Vick;s culture, upbringing, life experiences, etc. may have a better chance of empathizing with what he has gone through, or imagining what he might be going through now, but only HE knows what is in his head. I agree with Pitta, that no one here knows if he is reformed, has changed, etc. But I completely disagree we can't have an opinion about it. Since it is, by definition (at least Pitta's) "unknowable", an opinion is ALL we can have. We can form that opinion by observing his behavior and listening to what he says. We can believe him, or disbelieve him. Are those opinions very informed? Probably not, but that doesn't mean they aren't proper opinions. When stated as fact, no opinion is proper: But let's not kid ourselves about who this guy is. He's a scumbag who hasn't changed a bit. That's not an opinion. The only reason I told him to keep his "opinion" to himself is because he stated it as if it were a known fact that Vick hasn't changed. I'm all for opinions, I just expect some intelligent discussion when I refute them and not a semantics battle. And I just don't share the same sentiment. "People don't change" is such a widely accepted philosophy these days. But in my opinion it's a miserable fool's way to look at life.
Omar Little Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 In one of Jadakiss's (most of you probably don't know him) new songs called "What if", one of the lines is..."what if Peyton was fighting dogs instead of Mike Vick".....seriously, think about that. The guy is getting too much for this crime. It was heinous, but it was not against humanity. It was dogs. Look at RayRay living it up in Bmore after he was involved in covering up a murder. That punk in Cincy (forget his name right now) beat up some 15 year olds...There are COUNTLESS other crimes in this league that don't get the press. Vick was hugely popular, black, and killing dogs is something people sympathize with. He was made an example out of...but he deserves a chance back thats for damn sure. While I don't mean to make light of Vick's actions...they were only animals. I LOVE dogs more than anyone...have a dog myself..but you gotta realize. They are only making such a huge deal about this because dogs are "man's best friend". Had he done this to say chickens or other fighting animals...there wouldnt be nearly as much outrage. Dogs are an emotional softspot for people and its unfortunate in Vicks case because hes gonna be looked down upon forever even after serving his punishment to society. Well, Peyton Manning isn't fighting dogs. So, your logic sucks. And to the bolded part ... no, you don't.
zazie Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Well, Peyton Manning isn't fighting dogs. So, your logic sucks. And to the bolded part ... no, you don't. Again, you can't walk in another mans shoes. Peyton grew up on the other side of town from Vick. Clearly they had differing influences.
Omar Little Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Again, you can't walk in another mans shoes. Peyton grew up on the other side of town from Vick. Clearly they had differing influences. Boo hoo. Vick signed a $130 million contract but got his jollies by torturing dogs. Race goes out the window; a moron is a moron is a moron.
H2o Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 http://www.comcast.net/video/Glazer-Viking.../fanNFL/newest/ Uhhhhhhhh, I don't know about this one. Glazer says the Vikes would be better off with Vick over Favre.
Tipster19 Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 I think that any team that does sign Vick will be one that is in a position of strength and not a team that is desperate. I also believe that it would be an organization that has not only the owner approving such an acquisition but more importantly a GM and coach who are in agreement. Although Tony Dungy is no longer the coach of the Colts he is still in high esteem with GM Bill Polian and owner Jim Irsay. As many of you already know that Dungy has been counseling Vick, it's conceivable that for Dungy to be involved with Vick as much as he's currently been, it indicates to me that Dungy not only wants to help Vick but that he also has a belief in him. Tony Dungy is a Christian and a good man. Seeing him trying to rebuild and help restore a man and his life like Michael Vick's doesn't surprise me at all. I'm not suggesting that there is anything lacking with Peyton Manning or that Vick would be any kind of threat to his job but adding Vick to an already lethal offense would be almost mindboggling. Manning isn't the most mobile QB and having Vick run some certain packages like the Wildcat would be very interesting to say the least. In addition to not having Marvin Harrison on the roster I believe that Vick would help compensate for some of that offensive loss. I'm not sure if Vick could be used like a Reggie Bush type player or not but could you imagine using Vick on offense in a domed stadium? It would use Vick's best attributes if he were to go to a domed stadium and/or a team that plays on astroturf. It wouldn't hurt also to have an offensive weapon like Vick on your team if and when you have to go up against Belichick's Patriots. It will be interesting to see where Vick does land up. I just hope that he doesn't land up in our division and hopefully not even in our conference but I guess I would be asking too much for that to happen.
Omar Little Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Dungy himself says Vick isn't going to Indy. http://www.indystar.com/article/20090728/S...n+Vick+s+corner

I didn't see that article but other than Dungy saying that the Colts don't need any QB help it's what I thought he might have felt about Vick and his redemption.
